Alligator sandwich, and make it snappy

Post by Gob »

A man in Florida is facing charges of aggravated assault after allegedly throwing an alligator into a fast-food restaurant.

Joshua James, 23, has been accused of tossing the live animal through a drive-thru window at a Wendy's restaurant.

His mother reportedly said he wanted to play a practical joke on his friend, who worked at the place.

The animal was captured and released back into the wild.

Mr James, from Jupiter, Florida, had found the alligator on the side of a road and lured it into the back of his truck, according to an incident report by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, cited by local broadcaster WPTV.

He then went to the restaurant in Royal Palm Beach, where he placed an order at the drive-thru window, received a drink and threw the 3ft (1m) long animal through the opening, the report said.

The incident happened in October but the suspect has only now been taken into custody.

He also reportedly faces charges of unlawful possession and transportation of an alligator.

His mother, Linda James, told WPTV his action was a "stupid prank".

The TV station posted a photo of the alligator - taken from the incident report - on Twitter.

yeah, right, he lured it up into his truck.....

the bad part is that this is something that my friends and I might have done in high school.

if we had had alligators, and if we had thought of it, and if we had been stoned....

but for the dirth of gators around here that young man could have been one of my stupid friends....

I usually maintained my amused observer status during the most stupid of our high jinx....

I suppose that's your story and you're sticking to it!?!?!?!?

I could see myself being part of that "prank" back in my day.
Of course 40 years ago "pranks" were viewed a little differently than they are now.

Right.  Read the charges they already filed — aggravated assault and illegal possession/transportation of the alligator.  They'll probably find some way to confiscate the fella's truck on that second item, and I'm sure PeTA is after them to charge the guy with "alligator abuse" as well.

Q. How do you tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile?

A. One will see you later, and the other will see you in a while.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Seriously?
Alligators have a rounded, shovel-nosed snout; a crocodile's snout is more V-shaped.
Although personally, I don't think I'd take the time and effort to get close enough to compare.

That's my type of obscure humor. I didn't know you had it in you.

3 ft ? ( that's about a meter for those of you poor unfortunates who do not live in the U.S. of A.)

That's just a little baby gator. Can't hurt nobody. Can't barely even eat a wiener dog.

No, it's about 3 1/2 inches short of a metre.

Inches are an English unit of measurement, and meters are a French unit of measurement, for those of you poor unfortunates who do not have their own unit of measurement.

alligators have nasty bacteria within their mouths, similar to Komodo dragons.

even a little nip by a little nipper can lead to death if left untreated....

Baby Dolphin Dies After Tourists Pass It Around For Selfies
February 18, 2016 7:42 AM

A rare baby dolphin has died on the beach after selfish tourists pulled it from the ocean so they could take selfies with it.

Shocking footage from Santa Teresita beach in Buenos Aires, Argentina, shows the body of the marine mammal lying motionless on the floor as dozens of people surround it.

The Franciscana dolphin had been passed around between sun worshippers while they took out their phones and posed for pictures.

It was then dumped on the side to die from dehydration and overheating from exposure to the sun.

A spokesperson for the Argentine Wildlife Foundation (AWF) condemned the actions of the tourists.

They said: “This serves to inform the public about the urgent necessity to return these dolphins to the sea as soon as possible.”

The footage sparked fury from viewers, many taking to Twitter to vent their anger at the actions of those on the beach.

The Franciscana dolphin is listed as a ‘vulnerable’ species as there are just 30,000 left on the planet and are only found in the southeastern parts of South America.

The SWF spokesperson added: ”It is fundamental that people help to rescue these animals, because every Franciscana counts now.“

Makes me wish there actually were UFOs zapping around and space aliens abducting humans for scientific study and research.  These sound like the kind of people who could use a good anal probing, if for no other reason than to relieve them of the cranio-rectal inversion that they seem to be suffering.

There seem to me to be a number of people that think of living animals as toys that can be sued as they see fit. I recall when I was in high school that a few kids force fed a cat Exlax and threw it in a cop car. The cat apparently survived, and leaving the police with the mess seemed funny at the time, but I recall thinking that the cat must have suffered (and probably been scared out of its wits) like this poor baby dolphin was. People can be asses.
