Don't talc your Johnson & Johnson

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

- A Missouri jury has ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay $72 million in damages in a lawsuit over its talcum powder.
The suit, brought by the family of Jackie Fox, alleges that Fox died of ovarian cancer caused by the company’s product.
Plaintiffs in the case argued that Johnson & Johnson was aware of and neglected the dangers its talcum powder presented.
The company is appealing the ruling, which represents the first award of damages by a US jury over similar claims.
Johnson & Johnson released a statement saying it stands by the safety of its talcum powder.
That's an NBC report two days ago but the story isn't new. The first lawsuit seems to have been in 2009 and the queue is large. I read another report from a legal website claiming that cancer agencies have been warning for years that talcum powder (from the softest rock) contains fibres startling similar to those found in asbestos.

That's the last time I douse my delicates in talc!
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Unless your "delicates" include a vagina, you have little to worry about. Much more of a problem if you're a talc miner or if you worked with talc in industrial applications (tire manufacturing, for instance). Contamination of talc with tremolite asbestos has been a problem known for decades, but it's usually not found in consumer products.

Doesn’t matter I am getting that stuff out of the house anyway, it is not like it is something you have to have.

And how about talc that starts out on the man that ends up in the woman, trying to be delicate.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

If you go to the 'Demographics' thread and note the age of many of the people here, I don't feel that this would be too significant a problem for most of us.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
