I said he was good in the book thread and I'll say it again. He's good!

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: Name That Movie!
I recall it in that movie--was it in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well? I never saw it so I don't know.

Re: Name That Movie!
You were correct with "Willie Wonka", Big RR — my "close but no cigar" graphic was for LJ's erroneous guess; I didn't realize you had posted and the thread had advanced to the next page.Big RR wrote:I recall it in that movie--was it in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well? It might also have been in the Johnny Depp remake, but since I never actually watched the whole thing from start to finish I couldn't be sure one way or the other.
You're up; take your best shot.

OK Bill, thanks.
You want a job? I got a job for you. Fix up this pigsty! You get a pretty Goddamned good salary for testing out this bed all day! You want an extra fifty dollars a week, try vacuuming! You want an extra hundred, make this Goddamned bed! Try opening some Goddamned windows! That's why you can't stand up in here, the Goddamned place smells like a coffin!

Breaking Away?
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

The Godfather.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Big RR, it may be time for a clue...

D.W. Griffith's .........................."Birth Of A Nation"?
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Re: Name That Movie!
None of the above.
A clue--the line was delivered by Jack Nicholson. The movie was quite controversial for its time.

Re: Name That Movie!
Okay...
I only know of two films that Nicholson was in that would be considered "controversial for their time"...
And since I'm pretty familiar with one of them, (Easy Rider) and can't imagine any circumstances where his character in that movie would have said a line like that, I'm going to guess the other one; Carnal Knowledge...
I've never seen anything but a few clips from it, and I'm not familiar with the quote, but I'm applying process of elimination...

Re: Name That Movie!
And you have it Jim; I thought I was also going to have to include Candace Bergen and Art Garfunkel before people got it. Easy rider was a good guess as well.
Actually, that was one of my favorite movies and is in my collection--I'll occasionally watch it again when the mood strikes me. If you've never seen it, it's worth the watch.
Your turn...

"California? You can't write comedy in California! It's not depressing enough!"

Re: Name That Movie!
Good one Jim--a bit obscure, but a pretty good film.

Re: Name That Movie!

Okay, aside from Big RR (who is ineligible for this round) we don't seem to be making a lot of progress with this one...
I'll add another quote from the flick...
"Damn you! I'm not an actor, I'm a movie star!"
