Most holidaymakers go to the seaside for the view.
But visitors to Porthcawl in south Wales will be left disappointed after bungling council workers installed a bench at a beauty spot - facing the wrong way.
Instead of looking out over the beach and sea, the new bench looks over a busy road and hotels; a decision that has been branded 'daft' by the town's mayor.

But it is perfect if you want to take a picture of someone sitting on the bench with the sea in the background.

It's also good if you want to kneel on the bench and pray to Neptune.

It was done that way so that no one walking along the road could come sneak up behind you, bash you in the head, and steal your cell phone, watch, jewelry, and wallet.

I'm sure the instructions to the contractor was clear - people come here to watch whales.

I bet the bench and installation was paid for by the Seabank Hotel.

It reminds me of the sundial that the installation crew turned to be square with the sidewalk before setting its base in concrete.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
