Apparently several of these laws have provisions for checking IDs at restroom entrances to ensure that the sex listed on the ID matches the restroom they are entering.
Well, that would still seem to be a
really foolish use of scarce law enforcement resources...
Or is the idea here not that the
police would do this, but that the restaurant owners, bar owners, club owners etc, would be empowered to do this?
If so that's even
more ridiculous...
Unless they're getting complaints from customers about creepy "cross dressers" hanging out in their restrooms...(I'm guessing that's probably not a huge problem...)
It's
completely illogical...
Why would a business
want to be checking ID's for "birth sex verification" before their customer uses the bathroom?
That doesn't seem like a
really smart business move to me...
"I don't believe you're a woman; show me your ID"...
This law looks like a classic case of a "solution" in desperate pursuit of a non-existent problem...
