Yes, as in, it's going to dry up.Sharon Stone has reportedly dashed plans to shoot a new film in Mississippi after the state passed a controversial anti-LGBT law.
Described as a short film about cyber-bullying, “The Principal” will now be shot in another location, according to The Jackson Clarion-Ledger.
Stone, 58, released a statement to Mississippi Film Studios President Rick Moore which cited the state’s “Religious Liberty” bill, or House Bill 1523, as her incentive for moving the film’s production.
“I will not work in any state that holds or is actively creating laws to legally support discrimination against American citizens whether due to their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation,” the statement reads, according to local news station WDAM, “nor where those laws are passed or approved by the government of said state.”
Pointing to Stone’s remarks, Moore told WAPT News that the new legislation has prompted an “immediate shift in conversation” in regard to the state’s film industry.
Suck it up, bigots.

Mayor of Portland Oregon refuses to travel to MS shipyard because of oppressive rights bill
USN agrees to move commissioning ceremony to West Coast instead
USN agrees to move commissioning ceremony to West Coast instead

The USS Portland, the newest of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock vessels for the US Navy, was scheduled for a commissioning ceremony at the Ingalls Industries shipyard in Pascagoula MS on May 21st. However, last week Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced his decision to have the ship's commissioning ceremony held instead in its namesake city in Oregon.
Portland mayor Charlie Hales, who was scheduled to represent the city at the original ceremony, stated that he had cancelled his trip to Mississippi for the commissioning because of the newly-passed "Religious Liberty Accommodations Act", which has been criticized as actually permitting discrimination by businesses and individuals against members of the LGBT community. In a statement, Mayor Hales was quoted as saying, "The First Lady and I were invited by the U.S. Secretary of the Navy to help christen the USS Portland in Mississippi. We will not be taking that trip unless that discriminatory law is repealed. It would be a shame if the mayor of Portland couldn't attend the christening of the USS Portland, but I will not travel to a state that legalizes bigotry."

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

You've got a point there...
Or even better, Leonard Coma could threaten to do a whole North Carolina Tour, scheduling dates in every single city and town in the state...
That will bring them to heel...
If that were to happen, not only would the legislature convene in an immediate emergency session to repeal the bathroom law, they'd agree to erect a 20 foot statue of Caitlyn Jenner in the state capitol rotunda to get him to call it off...

Target is taking a stand against North Carolina’s transphobic bathroom bill, saying its customers and employees can use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.
The company announced the policy on its corporate website today, saying, “Inclusivity is a core belief at Target. It’s something we celebrate.”
The department store chain even proclaimed its support for the Equality Act that is proposed in Congress.
“We believe that everyone — every team member, every guest, and every community —deserves to be protected from discrimination, and treated equally,” the company said in its statement. “Consistent with this belief, Target supports the federal Equality Act, which provides protections to LGBT individuals, and opposes action that enables discrimination.”
The bill would revise the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include protection for sexual orientation and gender identity, effectively making it illegal to discriminate in hiring and housing and more. The Equality Act is supported by President Obama and the two Democrats running to replace him, but it is stalled in a Republican congress.

Re: The price of bigotry
There is a bit of irony in this whole kerfuffle as regards the North Carolina law...
The reason that the NC State Legislature passed this "bathroom law" in the first place, is because the local civic authorities in Charlotte NC (the largest city in the state) passed an ordinance specifically allowing people to use whatever restroom they "self identified" with...
Now here's the ironic bit....
Guess which municipality in North Carolina is going to suffer the most economically from all the private business reaction to this stupid state law?
If you said "Charlotte"...

Re: The price of bigotry
Eons ago-back in the 80's I was out partying in Bloomington, Indiana. I was a teeny bit drunk, for in those days I did a bit o' drinkin'. I had just finished dinner in a restaurant with friends and needed to tinkle. I did my wee and as I stood in front of the mirror afterwards, washing my hands I realized that the strikingly dressed "lady" standing next to me was a male. Those size 14 heels tend to be a dead giveaway, along with the Adam's apple that is so hard to hide. I complimented her on her earrings. At no point was I feeling threatened. In fact it was pretty amusing. I was a bit jealous, as I have been with cross dressing gentlemen, (I loved to hang at Bullwinkle's and watch the drag shows) because they do their hair, makeup and nails so much better than I do.

Some of the very high profile corporate pullbacks will affect Charlotte. Others will affect the Triangle and Wilmington.
There is definitely enough economic hurt to go around.

The Foreign Office has warned gay and transsexual British tourists about travelling to two states in America.
The government department issued the advice after new laws, which have been dubbed 'terrible' and 'anti-gay', were passed in North Carolina and Mississippi earlier this year.
It stated: 'The U.S. is an extremely diverse society and attitudes towards LGBT people differ hugely across the country.

After having said last week that no decision had been made on pulling next year’s NBA All-Star Game from North Carolina, the league’s commissioner now says the game definitely will be moved if the state’s recently enacted anti-LGBT law isn’t changed.
“We’ve been, I think, crystal clear a change in the law is necessary for us to play in the kind of environment that we think is appropriate for a celebratory NBA event,” commissioner Adam Silver said today at the Associated Press Sports Editors’ commissioner meetings in New York City, The Charlotte Observer reports.
