Like the Jessie Ware, thanks, Meade. But Kat Edmonson is a bit twee, isn't she?

Re: Music recommendations
Yeah, a bit. But I get most of my "current" music from TV commercials.... Galaxy Asteroid Tour I found from a Heineken ad on SA TV; Kat's song is the current background vibe for State of Ohio (Come Visit - we're really great not like those other states) TV spots. I might be a bit twee. I'm in that GAT/Kat and Staves mood.

Yeah, I can see how that would work, especially with the entire video comprising iconic shots of NYC and all.MajGenl.Meade wrote:Kat's song is the current background vibe for State of Ohio (Come Visit - we're really great not like those other states) TV spots.

I'm now relying on my 21-y-o son and 15-y-o daughter for that, while keeping up with pop on the radio. It's a very strange mix all around.MajGenl.Meade wrote:Jessie Ware is courtesy of my grand-daughter who tries to keep me no more than a year or two behind the curve.

Okay, but let me bring you into the current century. You might like this; it's a new dance remix of a song that made a little splash a couple of years ago:MajGenl.Meade wrote:I seem to be on a run of female singer/songwriters.

Now, how fair is that? All 3 that I posted are of "the current century"Sue U wrote:Okay, but let me bring you into the current century. Yeah well... it's OK I guess. Not all that fond of dance music. I like this one much more:

We're going the other way, I'm introducing Hatch's boyfriend to classic 70's/80's pop/punk/prog/rock/folkMajGenl.Meade wrote:

OK. What does this tell you about me? I like Boogie Woogie and blues piano. The third recording I bought was a Riverside X label Jimmy Yancey.

And he still lives there. I recall reading a New Yorker article about his current lifestyle: apparently once a month, a chartered helicopter picks him up at his home and flies him into Manhattan to do his regular MSG concert, then flies him back home when it's over.

Britta Phillips delivering a hauntingly beautiful cover of The Cars "Drive" -- albeit with a decidedly Felliniesque visual storyline.

I was a good concert. Only problem was we left our hous at 4:15pm and got home about 12:50am. 8 hours spent for a 2 hour concert.
Butit was worth it. Got to spend that time with my wife.

There's a reason Billy Joel charters that helicopter once a month...oldr_n_wsr wrote:8 hours spent for a 2 hour concert.
(Well, that and the fact that the gig pays well enough for him to comfortably afford it...)

I think he has an island off eatons neck or near there. He was trying to sell it at one time. My Brain is foggy on the details.

I grew up in a house full of Yancey 78s. But time marches on. And James Carroll Booker III came and went in between.Burning Petard wrote:OK. What does this tell you about me? I like Boogie Woogie and blues piano. The third recording I bought was a Riverside X label Jimmy Yancey.
