Name That Movie!
Re: Name That Movie!
I like the Lethal Weapon movies, and even though Mel chewed up the scenery in his portrayal of Fletcher Christian in The Bounty that was still a pretty good movie thanks to a superb performance by Anthony Hopkins as William Bligh...

Re: Name That Movie!
I'm not a fan of the Lethal Weapon movies, but I did like The Bounty (it's a lot closer to the actual accounts than many of the other movies on the subject), but I credit the young Tahitian girl who was the chief's daughter with my enjoyment of the film as much as Anthony Hopkins as Bligh.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Bligh pulled off what is quite possibly the greatest feat in the history of seamanship....Big RR wrote:I'm not a fan of the Lethal Weapon movies, but I did like The Bounty (it's a lot closer to the actual accounts than many of the other movies on the subject), but I credit the young Tahitian girl who was the chief's daughter with my enjoyment of the film as much as Anthony Hopkins as Bligh.
navigating in a 23 foot open boat over 3600 nautical miles by dead reckoning from the middle of the South Pacific to Timor...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_BlighBligh had confidence in his navigational skills, which he had perfected under the instruction of Captain Cook. His first responsibility was to bring his men to safety. Thus, he undertook the seemingly impossible 3,618-nautical-mile (6,701 km; 4,164 mi) voyage to Timor, the nearest European settlement. In this remarkable act of seamanship, Bligh succeeded in reaching Timor after a 47-day voyage, the only casualty being the crewman killed on Tofua.
From 4 May until 29 May, when they reached the Great Barrier Reef, the 18 men lived on 1⁄12 pound (40 grams) of bread per day. The weather was often stormy, and they were in constant fear of foundering due to the boat's heavily laden condition. On 29 May they landed on a small island off the coast of Australia, which they (appropriately) named Restoration Island, 29 May 1660 being the date of the restoration of the British monarchy. Over the next week or more they island-hopped north along the Great Barrier reef—while Bligh, cartographer as always, sketched maps of the coast. Early in June they passed through the Endeavour Strait and sailed again on the open sea until they reached Coupang, a settlement on Timor, on 15 June 1789.
It's one of history's ironies that Bligh wanted to bring fame to himself by rounding Cape Horn, but wound up accomplishing an even greater nautical achievement that he would never have deliberately set out to do...

Mel Gibson went wrong when he started believing he was a good actor.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Name That Movie!
That's a common malady among many so-so and bad actors.

Re: Name That Movie!
I have a guess because of a character from the previews, but I never saw the movie, so I'm not sure. As always, I'll wait a day to see who else might know.

Re: Name That Movie!
I'd be surprised if you remembered the previews.... you must have a memory like an elephant! I remember the movie but can't say I enjoyed it much. Certainly not as much as its predecessor.

Re: Name That Movie!
Not the line, but the character named Malcom. Since you said you didn't enjoy the movie, I think my guess has an even better chance of being right.

So it's not Big Momma's House, then?

What's the quote again?

At least that is what I was responding to.

This is the current quote from Dales.dales wrote:The thing I hate about you, Rowntree, is the way you give Coca-Cola to your scum, and your best teddy bear to Oxfam, and expect us to lick your frigid fingers for the rest of your frigid life.
My remark about Malcolm being back in the house was not a quote, Big RR.

OK, I really thought you had me stumped.
Re Dales quote, and your mention of Malcom, I would guess "If".
