Also as I pointed out earlier this morning in another thread, the Libertarian party ticket now has more elected Republicans on it than will the Republican Party ticket...

In a perfect world, MG, intelligent voters would see that Thompson/Weld does seem to offer a better prognosis than the two major party's candidates-presumptive, and they would sweep their way to the White House.

However, in this country the term "intelligent voter" would appear to be an oxymoron, and as anyone will tell you this is not a perfect world.

At this point in time, I would like to remind everyone that Trump has already turned the world upside down by becoming the Republican candidate for President (at least on the basis of delegates pledged to him, and barring anything happening to him between now and the convention), and would suggest that what was at one time the basis of bad jokes and comedy articles in things like "The Onion" is now entirely within the realm of possibility and Drumpf does indeed have a chance of rallying enough wack-jobs behind his particular brand of demagoguery for the unthinkable to occur and he emerges victorious in November.... and unlike doing something through mail-order, internet, or telephone sales, "We the People" do not get a period of time after an election in which we can experience 'Buyer's Remorse' and cancel that which we have done.  Sure there's the policy of recall, but as was shown in Wisconsin, Republicans know how to play that game to their best advantage too.

So I am of the opinion that any vote that is NOT cast for the Democratic ticket — whatever it turns out to be — and against the Republican ticket (which it appears is going to be Donald Trump and a doofus to be named later) in November is a wasted vote.  This is especially important for those people thinking of voting for Libertarians or other third-party candidates, believing that these are "votes that send a message of dissatisfaction with the two main parties".  I'm sorry to tell you, but that message is not being delivered; or if it is being delivered it is not being read and acted upon.

And it's wasted votes like these that could turn out to be the votes that allow Donald Trump to take up residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Vote Democrat — not necessarily because you are FOR either Clinton or Sanders; but because you truly want to do the best thing for America ... and a Trump presidency would be the most dangerous thing to happen to this country since 1861, when General Beauregard of the CSA gave the order to open fire on Fort Sumter in Charleston, setting off the War of the Rebellion.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I think the message has been delivered (thus the "popularity" of Bernie and Trump), but the MOTU's (channeling my inner Steve :nana ) are not going out to the mailbox. They are just like the paranoid addict, staying inside with their doors locked and shades drawn. Only difference is their drug is "power".
