Well, that's certainly a clever, insightful, and well thought-out response...
Maybe not, but it's an accurate observation. :nana

"Let's bring back the back-door-deals and smoke filled rooms... :ok"

Never gonna happen until campaign finance is drastically changed. CHANGED, not just 'reformed.' Money is a form of free speech and it drowns our all other forms of speech. Members or congress now work that job as part-timers. Their real full-time job is raising money for the next election cycle. The only back door deals now is over who gets how much of which pot of money.

If he's going to be the president that "brings back jobs", maybe he should start with his own line of Trump-branded clothing.

The above story is from 2011, but apparently he hasn't learned...
http://money.cnn.com/2016/03/08/news/ec ... ump-trade/

At least those overpriced trucker's hats he is pushing along the campaign trail are "Made in USA", but I think Trump would have a mild case of apoplexy if he knew all the details about the California company that makes them for him.
One recent Saturday at the Cali-Fame factory, about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, dozens of employees, almost all of them Latino, were working away while machines whirred all around them.  Some peered over glasses as their deft hands assembled one hat after another; others swept scraps of fabric from the floor.  They were surrounded by stacks of freshly minted camouflage-print caps, with the presidential hopeful’s all-capital-letter promise emblazoned on the front in orange.    (emphasis mine — BB)

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

It looks like Trump is already beginning to find jobs for the Mexicans. He loves the Mexicans he can tell you that...

How I'm Going To Bring Myself To Vote For Hillary Clinton...

Obama's numbers soared after his appearance on Fallon's show the other night. Barry sings, he dances, he's a raconteur extraordinaire, he's a communicator, a humorist, and a comedian -- and acts presidential. He does it all. What a guy.

That was great!

I will miss him. I hope he stays very active in public life in some fashion that befits his legacy.

You know LJ I think when all is said and done you might be able to rename this thread "how I brought myself to the Democratic Party when everyone in mine went nuts"

First of all, not everyone in my party has gone nuts...

And as for this:
I brought myself to the Democratic Party

As I've explained before, my decision to vote for Hillary means in no way shape or form that I have "brought myself to the Democratic Party"...

In fact, Trumpty's behavior has recently imbued me with renewed hope that he might push so far that he will be denied the nomination and I shall be spared from having to cast that painful and depressing vote... :ok

Okay, I'll humor you.

If that happens, who will rise to replace him?

Will Mitt Romney run as the nominee or an independent since watching Trump run is breaking his heart?

Will one of the prior candidates step back up?

Will Marco Rubio run for Senate again?

I see the Clinton campaign is now running a touchy-feely ad about how much Hillary loves children...(including a lot of 20 year plus old footage) My understanding is that they have made significant ad buys in some swing states to run this saccharine thing...

I think they might as well have just taken the money they spent on this and piled it in the street and set it on fire, for all the good it is going to do them electorally...

If Team Clinton believes that they're going to be able to win the election by persuading a substantial bloc of voters to start having the warm and fuzzies about Hillary, they are smoking some really strong shit...

There's no way they win the election by getting more people to like Hillary; there's way too much baked into the cake on that...

Their path to victory lies in going relentlessly against Trump and making him and his complete unfitness for the Presidency the issue...

Any time they're talking about anything else, they're off message...

They win by getting people to fear and detest him more than they fear and detest her...

They need to be running commercials showing Trump saying the stupid/crazy/vile things he's said, and commercials showing ordinary people interviewed who have been screwed over by him and his business practices...

Not wasting precious time and resources on the hopeless task of trying to convince people of what a kind and loveable person Hillary is...

She's also going after the younger black vote using her rap persona name -- "G-Ma 2Time."

She'll stump for you:

I've seen that ad, I think it's good. It will appeal to women and men who care about children and reminds them that Hillary was the source of health insurance for kids long before Obamacare came along (not to mention her early efforts to get us national healthcare).

I'm sure they'll run negative ads about Trump too, they have 43 million to his 1.5 million, after all.

I just got this from John Oliver's Youtube page, gonna keep it handy for responding to wesw's positive posts about Trump:

The following appeared as a full-page yesterday in both the New York Times and the Cleveland Plain-Dealer:
Dear Donald,

Americans are frustrated and angry and scared. You’ve channeled this into your nomination.

Americans are also good. We’re generous and courageous and kind. That’s what you’ve missed.

A single mom in Birmingham who taught her son how to rise while respecting women. The Toledo autoworkers fighting to protect the jobs of their immigrant brothers. And the families of faith in Little Rock who believe in lowering taxes without lowering their values.

This is who we are. And this is why your campaign will break down.

Your campaign doesn’t just seem wrong. It feels un-American. To support it would make me less of myself, less of my grandpa’s grandson, less of my mom’s son.

Turning away from you is a way to say who we are.
