Not much of a movie guy, I haven't been in a theater in almost 2 years. 26 of those movies I've never even heard of, and a lot of the ones I have I only know the title and no clue of the plot or cast.

Wow Datsun...

That's an impressive bit of research work...

I thought I was further behind Big RR than that...

But really....
2) Unforgiven (I'm not entirely sure I've ever seen a John Wayne film, and I've only heard of it in passing)
John Wayne?? He was long dead. Clint Eastwood, Danny Glover, Gene Hackman, Richard Harris and a bit of a tour de force by Jaimz Woolvett

Run (do not walk) to see this movie

Thanks for that research. I was thinking that I had not heard or seen many more of the movies than I have actually seen or heard of. Still haven't heard of/seen a lot of the movies but those are in a smallish minority.

First thing first--Jim is correct. Give that man a cee-gar. But is The Man Who Fell to Earth really a cult film? it wasn't a major release, but it did fairly well and got some critical acclaim. Then again, maybe anything with David Bowie in it is a cult film.

Datsun--great research. Thanks. :ok

Well, I'd certainly say she had marvelous judgment, Albert, if not particularly good taste.
Since this one is probably pretty obscure, I'll start out with a clue:

(I could have picked another TV show for a clue, but I thought that would make it too easy... 8-) )

In fact I'll give one more clue...

In addition to two actors best known for TV roles, the movie also has one very well known film actor...

Jim--if it's the movie I think it is, then it is obscure, but a lot of fun (I especially loved the end). But I can only think of one TV actor in it (and he's not in the show you depicted); since I can't guess, I'll check on line.

Another one I've seen (and a big fan of the original author) but again - don't remember a single line of dialogue (altho' in this case, monologue might be more accurate).

Meade--think of the ending and it might spur your recollection of this line. That's how I recalled it.

First I had to look it up to see what movie it was. Then (of course) I knew the ending; it was a pun the original author detested.

Big RR, I believe you've got it...

And yes, an actor from Green Acres was in it, (look at the cast list on IMDB) and that actor was also a producer of the movie and an uncredited screen writer for the flick...

OFFS, lets just call this the BigRR/LJ show.

I've seen more of the quoted movies than I thought, but I do not retain movie or TV dialogue. Just not my thing.

OFFS, lets just call this the BigRR/LJ show.
Now hold on there...

We adopted the "wait one turn" after you give a quote rule primarily to prevent this thread from becoming the "BigRR/LJ show"...(which wouldn't be much fun for anybody...myself and Big RR included)

And that combined with us both adopting informally the policy of not jumping up and giving an answer on a quote if we know it as soon as we see it, but instead waiting a few days to give others a shot, has worked pretty well to stop this from becoming just a two man back-and-forth...

The proof of this can be seen in the numbers:

Based on the fine work done by Datsun, we know that there have been 83 movie quotes given (not counting my latest one) and of those Big RR and I combined have answered less than half, (38)...

Lots of folks have multiple wins and have given multiple quotes...

Now we could probably open this up a little further, if we only applied the "wait one turn" rule to myself and Big RR...

I don't know how Big RR would feel about that, but I'm happy to go along with it...

ETA:

BTW, on my latest quote, there's a clue contained in Meade's response to Ray... ;)

I would be happy to do that as well. I'd also be willing extend our waiting before answering to a larger number of days, if that would make some happier. Indeed, I'd be happy to entertain any reasonable suggestions on how to make this more fun for those who wish to participate.

Frankly my dears, I don't give a damn.

(Seriously, that's not how my brain works, so no rule change would really help me. Enjoy. Both of your recall is impressive).
