Re: Largest mass shooting in American history
What a dumbass argument.
How about:
Let's make it legal to refuse to sell guns to people based on our judgement as to whether they are going to commit an immoral act
and
Then let's make it legal to refuse to sell cakes to people based on our judgement as to whether they are going to commit an immoral act
Odd how that doesn't work, isn't it?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Did Smith & Wesson have anything to do with how their stock traded?FYI: Neither mass murders nor blowback from Brexit on the NYSE can deter Smith & Wesson from the swift completion of it's anointed bounds. The Dow loses over 3% of it value and the gun maker has another great day.
Other than making a product people want? Sometimes more than other times?
All one has to do is mention "gun control" in the halls of congress and their stock bumps up.
I think it's the congress people themselves who own S&W stock and have the ability to manipulate it.

Nice Lady Won't Let Democrats Take Her Guns, Protects Family By Shooting Them; At Least It Wasn't Muslims

"Thoughts and Prayers" Still Completely Ineffective
SourceTexas mother, a vocal gun rights advocate, killed by police after fatally shooting her two daughters during 'family argument'
The woman killed by police after she fatally shot her two daughters at their Texas home was identified as an outspoken gun advocate.
Another responsible gun owner.
Christy Sheats, 42, shot and killed her two young daughters, Taylor, 22, and Madison Sheats, 17, on what neighbors said was their father’s birthday, according to local reports. A family spat started inside the married couple’s Houston-area home and spiraled into gun violence that spilled out onto their street.
“It was a family argument that turned into a shooting,” Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls told the Houston Chronicle. “But we’re still trying to put the pieces together.”
A witness said the sisters tried escaping with their father, but Taylor collapsed outside the home and Madison was shot in the back, KTRK-TV reported.
Murdered by mom, not even radical Islamic terrorism!
Jason Sheats managed to flee unscathed and called police from a neighbor’s home.
Jason and Christy Sheats recently reunited after separating, a neighbor told the TV station.
Police records revealed that deputies had been called multiple times in the past to the family’s home, located west of Houston in an unincorporated area near Fulshear, Texas.
"But as to why we were called here, I don’t know,” Nehls said.
Sheats’ husband was not harmed in the shooting, but he was taken to a hospital because he was so emotionally distraught.
“He’s going through a very difficult time,” Nehls said.
First responders led the distraught father away from the home after the 5 p.m. incident Friday in the family's middle class neighborhood. A 911 caller said shots had been fired.
When Fulshear police arrived to the scene, the two daughters were lying on the street in front of the home, the Chronicle reported.
Cops then shot and killed Christy Sheats, who was holding a pistol and refused to drop it.
"That armed shooter was also in the street and, after refusing to drop her weapon was shot and killed by a Fulshear officer," the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said.
Taylor died at the scene and her teenage sister, Madison, was airlifted to the Texas Medical Center, where she couldn’t be saved.
According to Christy Sheats Facebook page, she was a gun owner and vocal advocate for the second amendment.
"It would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away," Sheats wrote in March on her Facebook page, "but that's exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns."
In other posts, she showered her daughters with praise.
"Happy Daughter's Day to my amazing, sweet, kind, beautiful, intelligent girls," she wrote in September 2015. "I love and treasure you both more than you could ever possibly know."
Taylor and Madison both worked as babysitters, according to their Facebook pages. Taylor studied at Lone Star College.
Those who knew the girls poured out their condolences on social media.
“My heart is broken this morning to find that my sweet Madison Sheats lost her life,” wrote Whitney Mae Bruce, who identified herself as a former teacher to Madison. “Always positive and smiling, Madison quickly became one of my favorite students four years ago while teaching for the first time in Katy. A wonderful student/person/babysitter will be missed enormously. Please pray for her father,” Bruce wrote in the post.
“Taylor Sheats you were a beautiful soul! Always easy going, kind hearted, wonderful and contagious smile, also a great artist. Rest in peace!” Travis Reynolds wrote on Facebook.

No, it is not xenophobic although your confusion is understandable. It is an appalling tragedy. And your concluding sentence is correct without doubt.

She really liked her Bible quotes. That's probably what kept her on the straight-and-narrow for all these years.
God, guns, and guts. Amen to that.

I'm so glad all those unstable housewives hiding their craziness behind vacant eyes, perfect makeup and manicures have unlimited access to guns, including semiautomatic, blah blah blah.
This is a kinda sad story, I much prefer it when the crazy gunrights wommyn are gunned down by their innocent toddlers.

I believe mothers killing their children is a terrible thing. You can mark me down as being against that.
Anyone care to take the opposing side?

I'd add that this evil bitch deserves the death penalty, and I hope she gets it. At least this took place in Texas which has an enlightened view on the death penalty, so if she receives it at least justice won't be thwarted for multiple decades.

Re: Largest mass shooting in American history
First, too many cannot agree on just what is the real issue. Are guns the problem? Federal law prevents federal money from supporting research into that issue. OK, but so what? Why must no federal money mean no research?
For me, the real issue is why are so many in the USofA ready to kill to settle a disagreement, on a societal level level such as Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols in Oklahoma city, kids on the streets of Chicago who are 'dissed' or this woman in Texas who has an argument with her adult daughters and ends up in suicide by cop.
When I was a teenager in Central High School in Kansas City there were neighborhood gangs and guns were readily available LEGALLY to teenagers. And if you wanted, they could made--'everybody' knew how to build a zip gun from a car radio antenna, a block of wood, a nail and a rubber band. A box of 50 rounds of ammo for it could be legally purchased at any hardware store and most gas stations for about the price of two sliders at White Castle, or a pack of cigarettes. Yet using such a device was considered cowardly.
What has changed? What is driving this community breakdown in the social contract that makes people more frightened of an attack on their personal safety than my maternal grandparents were as newly weds in a sod dugout, squatting illegally in Indian Territory, miles from any friendly face?
