All of the examples of "cool" behaviour involve white people.

All or all but one* examples of "not cool" behaviour involve people of colour.

* depending on whether the guy in the upper right is supposed to be white or Asian - I could see it being either

Looks like there are two "not cool" kids at the top running when they should be walking.  Only one of these kids looks to be a "person of color"; the other one is one of the "privileged white kids".

Also at the bottom, the two kids roughhousing on the deck at the side of the pool — again, a "not cool" activity — are again one white, one "colored".

On the plus side, one of the two lifeguards — a very cool thing to do, even if it isn't labelled as such — is also a person of color.

For pete's sake, it's only a poster.  But SJWs are always going to find racism wherever they look, whether it's there or not.

If anything, this poster is lacking a sufficient number of Asians, and there's no handicapped kids either.  And where's the transgender boy in a bikini?

If we want to get nitpicky about it, a boy of colour is labelled "not cool" for diving in too close to a swimmer, but the white girl is not labelled "not cool" for swimming in the path of the diving board, which is a major no-no.

I couldn't tell if the diver is in trouble because the swimmer (who may have just dove in for all we know) has not cleared yet, or because this is a no diving pool, or because he's doing an optional dive when a voluntary is required. And what is the "not cool" violation of the boy of color who is directly across from the diving board on the other side of the rope divider? Kind of looks like he is drowning, but maybe he is doing the breast stroke. I can't believe I just put that much thought into this stupid poster. I hold Dales personally responsible.

Jeezus fuck. As we move from the present to the future we will see instances of behavior which are less desirable.

How would you recommend that we negotiate this transition?

Well?

It is only a good thing that we care about it and make an effort.

Actually, scooter, I saw it as the girl swimming for the ladder to clear the area after diving; but the kid jumping in too quickly after her is still in the wrong.
And to answer Long Run's question about the kid in the middle of pool... he's got his mouth open and (I suppose) he's hollering or screaming, which is annoying; but what the hell, kids are kids and that's what they're going to do.

Maybe he is screaming at the divers in a way that will distract them???

The fact that we are all needing to parse the diagram to this extent (and have such different interpretations) tells me that it would not be understandable to its target audience. Which is a greater fault that its alleged racism.

Here's what's "NOT COOL":
As we all know, the CDC recommends a constant pH balance of 7.2–7.8, and a free chlorine concentration of, at least, 1 ppm in all integrated outdoor public pools. As you can see by the yellowish tint of the water it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to realize this pool's pH balance is no better than 6.3-6.8, and the free chlorine concentration is less than .06 ppm.

So, what's "NOT COOL" is that local government officials are letting the Red Cross run an unsanitary and unhealthy summer pool program. It should be shut down immediately and not reopened until all health code standards are met. And subsequent tetanus shots should be administered for free.

And is that a Baby Ruth candy bar floating behind one of the "not cool" colored kids... or is it something else?

Check your color settings on your monitor; that should fix that yellowish color on your display.
What you're misidentifying as a candy bar is actually his foot.

What are their recommendations for segregated pools?
A friend of Doc's, one of only two B-29 bombers still flying.

Sorry, it's "Not Cool" if I divulged that information.

What passes for news these days . . . is definitely not cool.

I was thinking it looks like he's diving into shallow water (the girl with red hair looks like she's walking through the water, not swimming). but then, why have a diving board if the water is that shallow? and I don't think that fish is all that cool sitting on a fence.

Could someone please explain to me what that is supposed to mean?

And then for extra credit, explain how it relates to this discussion...

Not a fish; a whale is a mammal, you insensitive clod. And what time is it when a whale sits on your fence?

Sue--Time to get a new...? :shrug

But while I guess it could be a whale, I thought it looked more like a badly drawn fish. But now I see you're right, a fish couldn't get a breath to blow the whistle (but then a whale couldn't purse its lips around a whistle even if it could get the breath--this isn't expelling Jonah).

It's just not cool
