Nope...
Those are two movies (The Natural and Broadway Danny Rose) that are from the mid-80s...
This flick was made in the 60s...the mid-60s...
But not the female lead...
Oh what the hell, I'll go ahead and tell you the name of the actor who was in all three movies, (and many more)
Paul Newman....

Ocean's 11? Wild guess here.

The original Ocean's 11 also featured a big name actor that was in this movie...(Not Paul Newman)

I've only seen one Paul Newman movie from the 60s and this one is not it. Wait, maybe I've seen a second one. Also not it. But I'm pretty sure with all the near misses that I can narrow it down to which one it is. At this point it's like playing Battleships.

Re: Name That Movie!
Grr, I figured out what the movie is but only because of what LJ calls "Data Mining". Otherwise I'd have posted Cool Hand Luke (not it) because it's the only Paul Newman movie I can think of the title off the top of my head. Reality is I've only seen 4 movies Paul Newman was in, but 2 of them I didn't know he was in them- one was an animated movie, no less. I knew Paul Newman more because he once raced Datsuns and his Spaghetti Sauce than for his acting.
What happened was, I was trying to remember the name of the other Paul Newman movie I'd seen that wasn't Cool Hand Luke.
A quick search of IMDB revealed that I was thinking of Hud (which I saw in class in High School), but I realized that didn't fit, because it had
way too many Oscars, but I couldn't even remember the plot. Of course, by looking up Paul Newman it listed ALL his films, and it was too easy
to see which one met the clues. But once again it's a movie I've never heard of, let alone seen, but it looks like one I should
go see if someone in my much more movie buff family has a copy. So I'm not going to bother posting it since it's against the spirit of the game.

Re: Name That Movie!
I don't think LJ ever saw this movie (nor did anyone else). He just picked out a quote from movieqoutes.com. I call BS on this one
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: Name That Movie!
Au contraire, it's one of my favorites...
What gave me the idea to pick it was that the starring actress has starred in a couple of snorers that have been used in this thread, so I thought I'd pick a film she had done that I actually liked....
If no one gets this by the end of the day, I'll give the answer and pick a new one...(I assume Big RR knows the answer, but he's on the road...)
I've given a ton of clues, I don't think any more would help....

Re: Name That Movie!
The clues don't help if no one else has seen it. As said previously, a movie most folks here would actually get would either have to be a multi-academy award winner, a major box office smash (like, #1 or 2 for the year), or made in the last 10 years for most to remember lines. Otherwise for me I'd have to data mine (which I excel at) or play battleships with. I mean, I've heard of Shirley Maclaine, but without having IMDB'd the movies listed I wouldn't know a single film she was in in. I have seen a grand total of ONE movie she was in (and it was a very, very bad movie, but one that a 10-year old kid thought was the high point of comedy. I'm talking 8 Golden Raspberry Nominations bad). Hell, I didn't even know she was still alive. It'd be fun to try and play "Stump Lord Jim" but it's rather hard to get in when the movies posted have only been seen by the postee (or BigRR, who apparently is a not-dead Gene Siskel living in secret under a pseudonym)

I have to disagree with you there Datsun...a movie most folks here would actually get would either have to be a multi-academy award winner, a major box office smash (like, #1 or 2 for the year), or made in the last 10 years for most to remember lines.
Numerous movies outside those parameters have been successfully identified in this thread by numerous different people...(sometimes it takes multiple clues, but that's the record...) And with the multiple clues, remembering lines of dialogue isn't necessary, providing of course that one has at least seen the movie, (in fact in some cases, the clues have been such that just having heard of the movie and having some idea of what it was about and who was in it, creates conditions to be able to make an educated guess...)
I have to take issue with that as well...It'd be fun to try and play "Stump Lord Jim" but it's rather hard to get in when the movies posted have only been seen by the postee (or BigRR, who apparently is a not-dead Gene Siskel living in secret under a pseudonym)
As the analysis of the films posted here earlier showed, Big RR and I combined have given the answers for less than half of them (And I believe a subsequent analysis would show that our combined winning percentage has dropped even further since then. )
All of that having been said, this one has gone on long enough:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058743/
Forgive me for thinking that somebody else here might have seen a movie that starred Shirley MacLaine, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum, Dean Martin, Gene Kelly, Bob Cummings and Dick Van Dyke..
Oh, and let's not forget a the final screen appearance by Margaret Dumont, as MacLaine's mother...
(Anybody who asks "who was Margaret Dumont ?" is getting smacked...
As I told Meade earlier, I thought I would pick a Shirley MacLaine film that I liked, since two had been recently posted that I found to be a cure for insomnia....
That's a pretty short list...it only consists of three films...
What A Way To Go, Irma la Douce (which she co-starred in with Jack Lemon) and Two Mules For Sister Sara...
I thought that going with the one that had so much star power in it would make it the easiest of the three....
In retrospect maybe I should have gone with Two Mules For Sister Sara because of the Eastwood connection...

I think I got it: "A New Kind Of Love"

I think this one is pretty easy, but we'll see...
This movie was also the subject of a lousy remake, and the screen play was written by Neil Simon...
