he'd just be a bit of an embarrassment.
I completely disagree Gen'l...

He may not get his wall built, or be able to forcibly deport 11 million people, or impose his Muslim ban, or muzzle the press, but he doesn't need any approval from the Congress or the courts to blow up our alliances and destroy our international relationships. Nor does he need any approval from anyone to refuse to sign an increase in the debt ceiling and default on US debts (as he has threatened to do; he believes he can play with the full faith and credit of the United States the same way he conducted his bankruptcies) which would throw financial markets into a panic and bring on a deep global recession...

Having a President just threaten to do that would have a very strong negative impact on the economy, as would the uncertainty about policy that this mercurial know-nothing's whole approach would bring.

I think you are badly underestimating the damage this man could do.

It's still no excuse for voting for the enemy

Editing my frustrated response: Better healthcare, stronger national defense, and an intelligent, educated, experienced, articulate leader is the enemy?

What about Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, the minimum wage. All things Trump will do away with.

And finally, don't get me started on the Supreme Court. The next President may have 2-4 nominations. That alone would be enough for me to vote for any Democrat -- who have consistently placed better, more skilled, and generally more open-minded jurists on the Court (I'll give Roberts some props, as well as Warren Burger and David Souter).

I actually do wish you'd answer Joe's question, Meade...

Which of Hillary's plans are you worried about? Will she confiscate your guns? Mess up your health care? Hand out too much welfare to the needy? Be too slow to respond to terror attacks in other countries?

Store your email on her personal server?

Any response?

How are Democrats "the enemy?"

Here-in lies the problem with the non-trump people:
TRUMP :o
I think that is so beyond foolish as to be the embodiment of idiocy.
Calling the Trump supporters foolish and idiots. That somehow, if they were just smarter and not as foolish or stupid, they would not vote for Trump and instead "see the light" and vote for Hillary.

Yeah, that's how you get someone to re-consider their opinion. :shrug :loon

I think that statement is a little more "general" in nature.
Calling someone foolish and an idiot is personal.

They ARE the enemy! The enemy of anti-intellectualism; the enemy of unfettered, unregulated capitalism; the enemy of exploiting/inflaming bigotry and divisiveness in the citizenry; the enemy of regressive policies.

Yeah, I see Meade's point.

Oh, I didn't see Joe's post - thanks for quoting it. Yesterday when I checked, it opened on page 7 and that was LJ's post. I should have checked page 6.

What plans? Oh, any of them that she has. She's an establishment hack of the worst kind (among many of both parties, of course) on the self-enrichment and dishonesty plan. Done well on it too. I wouldn't vote for her at gun point.... or a sharp stick... or tropical fruit.

My point was not that Trump is "better" and I referred to his "plans" in inverted commas followed by (sic sick). I will not vote for Hillary Clinton and that is that.

Edit to add: that's a good one, BSG!

So you can't think of anything specific either.

Back after the end of the Clinton presidency I asked what Hillary had done which deserved hatred; no one could answer that either. Zip.

I hate to have to say this out loud because I'm sure I'll be shouted at; but after what I experienced personally from a certain element of people when serving as a female county attorney in rural white America, I believe it is simply that she is a woman that so very many sexist men and women-hating women cannot stand her.

Yes, I know, you're not sexist.

Of course I'm not!

But Melanoma would be better to look at than Bill    :nana

I think with Hillary, there are quite a lot of people who just don't like her regardless of her politics. They hate her so much that they would rather see a pompous, misogynist airhead become our president.

Another way to bring yourself to vote for Hillary — read the 'Harry Potter' books.

A recent study conducted by the journal "PS: Political Science and Politics" (published by the Cambridge University Press) has revealed that Harry Potter fans are more likely to dislike Donald Trump.  The study, which has yet to be published in full, took respondents' age, gender, education, religious views, and political persuasions into consideration and still found that those who loved Potter were not too partial to Trump.  The reason for this has to do with the similarities that many readers draw between Trump and the wizarding world's nemesis, Lord Voldemort.

Speaking to 'TIME' magazine, Professor Diana Mutz from the University of Pennsylvania said, “It makes some sense that if you have been exposed to these long series of books where Voldemort is the ultimate kind of incarnation of evil, that the characteristics that are more aggressive tactics and so forth that Trump represents are less attractive, even leaving aside how it affects your policy attitudes.”

(another similarity — they both have bad hair)
The study, which comprised 1,200 subjects, also found that it was those who had read the books rather than just seen the films who were most likely to be anti-Trump.

This comes after J.K. Rowling herself tweeted back in December that she felt that Trump was actually worse than Voldemort.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

The real connection is that people who voluntarily read books for pleasure are not likely to approve of Trump or Republicans in general.

Oh I read tons of books for pleasure... and I don't approve of Trump. But Republicans in general - well, I'm starting to wonder about that.
