Has anyone else here ever heard or heard of Anna Nalick?

A local station played the linked selection one day. The radio in the car I was driving showed the artist's name. This particular song is now one of my favorites. It was apparently also featured on an episode of Grey's Anatomy which I don't watch.

Her Wreck of the Day CD is the ONLY one I've bought by a young modern singer. We listened to it a couple of times on our 1007 mile round trip last weekend. This girl can sing, and she writes her own stuff. Not to knock Taylor Swift or Katy Perry, but why don't we hear more Anna Nalick?

MGMcA, Nalick has been around for quite some time. She has had a lot of her music played on TV show soundtracks. I think I first heard her on "Grey's Anatomy" or a "Grammy Awards" show and when I searched I was directed to her MySpace page.

She's quite accomplished and I think her lack of more national exposure stems from contract disputes with her record label. If you want more of her music check out her MySpace page:

And I see she's now in facebook:

Okay, you really gotta get out/turn on the radio more. "Breathe" was a pretty big pop hit like 10+ years ago and still gets occasional airplay (although come to think of it, I mostly hear it in grocery stores these days). A quick check shows she's had a few more songs that charted on Adult Top 40 radio, but I don't really follow that genre. In any event, glad you found something that floats your boat and gets you a little excited about music.

Yes, and if "Breathe" is running through your head all day, you will like her "Wreck of the Day" too. You may want to try this singer named Adele; some people think she's pretty good too. ;)

Speaking of music that is a bit older, this one from Warren Zevon was the take out for last week's Ray Donovan and makes you remember why Zevon was so well regarded:

Thinking back on June Tabor and Maddy Prior and remaking songs, I remembered one of the reasons I love music and what makes it so much fun for me. So tell me, does the song really remain the same?

My car radios only need two preset buttons. The station I listen too when I'm not listening to NPR is an "oldies" station. I guess they had to wait till "Breathe (2AM)" was officially old before I could hear it.

"Wreck of the Day", of course, is on my "Wreck of the Day" CD along with "Breathe (2AM)". Oddly, "Breathe (2AM)" is the number one track.

Okay, 10 days ago I posted four videos of what may or may not be the same song, recorded by a varied selection of artists, to say the least. So, is it the same song? Are some the same song? At what point, if any, does any of these become a different song? Just curious as to what people think about such things and if they think about them at all.

And where's Sean, anyway?

Of course they're all the same song! And I could easily find a dozen more versions of it.

It's a folk song, is what it is...and that's what happens to folk songs, and that's what folk singers do to songs. (If it's not already a folk song before that happens, once it happens again few more times it will be a folk song!)

Just worth noting that rubato is the only person to use this thread to pour scorn on other people's taste in music.

No matter how many times it's pointed out to him that "de gustibus non est disputandum," he still makes his crude error of believing his views have any import, value or that someone here gives a toss what he thinks.

Aspergers syndrome, it's for life, unfortunately.

So back on to the sharing of music we like.....

WTF was going on with "Part II"? That's so beautiful!!!
