... unless you get off too soon.
I think this pendulum amusement is in Rainbow Park in New Zealand. A friend sent me the link below showing how dangerous it is. However, it appeared to me to be a CGI hoax vid. An accident so freakish as this would have been documented somewhere on the web by now. However, an extensive search by me finds no websites out there that show this exact ride having trouble like this. (Other rides, yes, not this one.)
OK... you're much closer to this park than anyone else so I'm curious if you saw anything in your "local" newspaper or on TV about this horrific accident? Any links to that info -- if it exists -- would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nha, looks like a hoax to me.

Whut? There was only one person who came off. In America you don't even have to file an accident report for just one death. It is just considered like "by catch" with fishing. Just a normal hazard of doing business. The cop comes by and you say "Hey officer Joe, just one today" and he say's "That's cool. Shit happens. Just no chronic, ok?" "Hey we're cool officer Joe. You want a 40oz er? Got a cooler right here. Really takes the edge off" and he says "thanks, right place right time" and that's it man.

I dunno; just spent some time watching amusement park ride accidents caught on video and there are a few just as bad or worse than that one!
I'm giving up amusement park rides; especially since I've represented and prosecuted a few carnies in my time and have a realistic understanding of the typical intellect possessed by the folks assembling and maintaining the rides.

That was before they added the netting over the top of the hump. The netting, or its support structure, apparently killed the state representative's son.

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, the largest trade association for permanent amusement park rides, said in a statement Tuesday that it opposes any effort to enact federal oversight.

"A ride shutdown message was misunderstood by staff at the ride," an Alton Towers spokeswoman said.
"This led to a decision to manually restart the ride, overriding the control system without appropriate safety protocols being followed correctly."
