My dog, I think, got stung by a wasp the other day (monday). On his tongue or mouth. (He would try and catch bugs, guess he caught this one) And since he has been acting really strange. Right after it happened he came scampering into the house, was shaking (a scared shake not a nervous shake) and took refuge in the den (he never hangs out in the den). He kept licking his mouth and nose. I looked all in his mouth, his nose and on his tongue but could not find anything. Touched/looked all over his body trying to find something. He didn't pull back like he would if he were injured. He was acting wierd all day yesterday and didn't eat his breakfast nor drink much water. He ate last night but was still wierd. Tentative in all he is doing and looking around like something is buzzing around him. Yesterday morning he came out to get the newspaper but refused to pick it up and would not take it into his mouth when I put it out for him to take.

This morning he was in the den again and had no interest in going outside and fetching the newspaper. He loves gettting the newspaper and is usually sitting by the back door as soon as I get up. He did eat breakfast so it's a start. And he was laying in front of the back door when I left which is his usual spot.
We'll see how he is today. Maybe a trip to the vet if he doesn't get any better.

Please take him to the vet and get him checked out today - don't wait another day. Depending what stung him, he could be developing an abscess which can cause even more significant problems (especially if any stinger is lodged in him). He may also need an antihistamine and I can't recall what you can give dogs. If he is not drinking, that is a serious problem.

I agree, please take him to doggy doc.

How's your dog doing oldr_n_wsr?

Steven Wright says he named his dog Stay.

Come Stay.
Come Stay.

No wonder the dog developed mental issues.

That's Steven Wright the comedian, not the ball player.

He's 1000 times better. Eating, drinking, tail wagging, just like old times. Only problem now is he's skittish about going out in the yard alone. So I walk around the whole yard with him. Once before work and then after I get home. He stays right next to me the whole time but at least he pees and poops (and not on my shoes). And as he walks, he is constantly looking around trying to see if any bugs are around him.

We're dog sitting my daughters dog tomorrow and they love to play in the yard so we'll see if she can get him out of his funk of being afraid of the yard.

Plus I'll fill up his pool and see if he jumps in that. He loves his pool.

Thanks for everyones concern.
