Heavy Snow CLOSES US-212 (Beartooth Pass) in Montana!
SnowBrains | August 25, 2016
Heavy SNOW caused the Montana Department of Transportation to CLOSE 10,947′ Beartooth Pass on US-212 yesterday at 8:10pm. The closure goes from Vista Point on the Montana side to Long Lake on the Wyoming side.
Road conditions will be reevaluated this morning around daylight.
Pretty awesome that we’re having road closures in Montana in August!
True, but the term global warming was chosen by those seeking to publicize the coming climate change (chosen because it was catchy no doubt); in retrospect was not a good choice.

The term "global climate change" was chosen by those seeking to draw attention to the problem.
The "global warming" term continues principally because of the propagandistic efforts of those trying to deny that it is happening.
I recall the term "global warming" being used in scientific publications about the effects of greenhouse gases in the 70s, long before there was any propagandists, or even another side. It has since been used somewhat interchangeably with climate change, but the thesis has always been that the mean temperature of the earth is rising, which can lead to catastrophic results, hence global warming has been used.
Recently the persons denying these effects have latched onto the term global warming, and used every big snowstorm, etc. as a reason to poop-pooh the ideas and discussion. but the term well predates them.
IMHO the biggest problem is that global warming, with its attendant ice cap melting and ocean rises, serves a reasonable catchy call to arms in the way that climate change has not, and so the scientists speaking to the popular press continued to use this term without fully explaining themselves, not understanding/realizing that the general public does not view things in the same way that scientists do. Few scientists would dispute that global warming is occurring because of a few cold winters or severe snowstorms, indeed, they'd see it as something predicted by the observations.

I remember when "acid rain" was going to kill us all.
