Result: You're Not a Republican.
You don't see eye-to-eye with conservatives on very many topics. You believe the government should play a role in giving American citizens and businesses opportunities to thrive, and you tend to take a "to each their own" approach on social issues. You lean left, like Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy, but try to stay fairly moderate.

Same as you, dales. So now I'm "Not a Republican" and "Probably not a Democrat".
Re: How Much Of A Republican Are You?
(I couldn't help but notice that these are the exact same questions with the exact same available answers that were in the other poll)
Well, if I'm considered a "Moderate Republican" then Ronald Reagan would be considered one too, because my answers were identical to the ones I'm sure Dutch would have given based on his policies and stated views during his Presidency.Result: You're a Moderate Republican.
You lean right, but not too far. In your eyes, the government shouldn't be as involved in people's lives, but still must play a role. Though you agree with your party on most issues, your opinions on certain topics may differ. Like John McCain and Dwight Eisenhower, you're firm in your beliefs, but understand the world isn't black and white.

Same as dales and Joe Guy. I'm not a Republican, at least not as they define a Republican.
And as things stand today, I'm OK with that. I would not call myself a Republican, not even with a gun held to my head.
When do we get the test that asks 'How Much of a Libertarian Are You?'

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

You're blue to the bone — not an ounce of Republican in you. You think the government should play an active role in its citizens' lives, and you take a liberal stance on most, if not all, social issues. Like Barack Obama or Franklin Roosevelt, you might have a tough time finding middle ground with your more conservative peers.

Re: How Much Of A Republican Are You?
You're a staunch conservative, as red as they come. You think the government is too big, too involved and too wasteful. In your opinion, Washington should worry about keeping the country safe at home and abroad, but should leave American citizens and businesses alone. Strong conservatives like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush would agree with you on a lot of issues.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I got the same BSG; but I find it a bit disconcerting to see FDR and Obama used as examples of liberals--perhaps they mean on opposite ends of the liberal spectrum? Indeed, I'd place Obama as a George Bush Sr moderate republican; somewhere I'd place a lot of today's democrats. At least they didn't add either of the Clintons as exemplars of being liberal..

Obama, as I have long said, is a sterling example of an Eisenhower Republican.Big RR wrote:I got the same BSG; but I find it a bit disconcerting to see FDR and Obama used as examples of liberals--perhaps they mean on opposite ends of the liberal spectrum? Does anybody else believe that who Obama is in office and who he is at heart is a very different thing?

Re: How Much Of A Republican Are You?
maybe, maybe not; I'm not sure; but so what? Some people are different in office because they are making deals to get things done; others because they were not all that wedded to their politics when push comes to shove. But for a "liberal" I think he has expanded the government surveillance programs far too much (and went after people for calling him on it), he has been far more interventionalist and militaristic (though not as much as some on the further right would like), and he has deported more undocumented immigrants than any of his predecessors. If he did these things alone to get other parts of his program enacted, I think he made a pretty bad deal. Personally, I think the democrats (at least most of them) have moved to the right when the republicans moved further to the right; what some now call "liberal" would have been pretty conservative in the 60s; and I think Obama just followed that trend to get elected (just as Bill Clinton did and Hillary is doing). oh them embrace a few "liberal" social issues to try and justify themselves, but then they follow the republican economic policies, endorsing tax cuts, etc.
