The Donald Trump Story? Again!

No, but please accept this special awardMajGenl.Meade wrote:The Donald Trump Story? Again!

for being the first person to seize the low-hanging fruit and make the inevitable Donald Trump reference.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Re: Name That Movie!
Thank you. Thank you all. It was that or Adolf H and we all know that would make me a loser.

Almost 24 hours and no takers? Here's a clue .....
An action movie based on a novel, and it followed the plot line of the original novel much closer than most. This may be because the original author also wrote the screenplay.

When we get into B movies or lower, I'm not much good. I'm a looser. OK, LR?

Re: Name That Movie!
Still no guesses? OK, another hint:
This is not a 'B'-movie, at least not to my way of thinking. It's a major studio release distributed by United Artists, has a 6.8 rating on IMDb, and the cast features several famous names from the movies in the 1960s and 1970s, including one Academy Award winner (although he didn't win it for this one).

Re: Name That Movie!
I looked it up, I've never even heard of it, and according to wiki it was a "box office disappointment."

Re: Name That Movie!
I never thought it was as bad a movie as it got a rap for being; (except for one truly bizarre casting choice) the star just suffered from the context of when the film was made...

Re: Name That Movie!
Well, it was a B-book.
The Los Angeles Times called the movie "a fun if familiar picture but played so broadly on such an elementary level that it can hope to satisfy only the most undemanding of viewer."

Re: Name That Movie!
Well, it's got a 6.8 IMDB rating, (which isn't great, but doesn't put it in the total stinker category...it's a better rating than I was expecting to see) and it's definitely a "period piece", but I think that over time the evaluation of the film has improved over what it was when it first came out.

Re: Name That Movie!
It didn't do well in the movies but sometimes shows up on TV. I just think the public didn't want to see another one of this sort of period pieces when it came out. It just didn't have an audience.

Re: Name That Movie!
Ray is obviously just playing around again.
At this point I think it's obvious that everyone who does know the answer has probably googled the quote to find that out. (Including myself.) I read the book and enjoyed it quite a bit, but I never saw the movie. From the description and clips available online, it seems like the exterior shots of the old steam locomotive in the snowy mountain terrain might be worth the viewing time...if you like that sort of thing.
(Yeah, if there's anybody left who hasn't cheated and is still guessing, that's another big clue!)

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Wild ass guess Polar Express?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Snort. Erik is at that age. We used to watch that movie almost every day!

And just to head off the weisenheimers, it's not "Murder on the Orient Express" either.

Re: Name That Movie!
Maybe it's time for a new quote from the film BB?
Re: Name That Movie!
I figured it out without looking it up, but I'm going to be out a lot this weekend (we're getting our annual Indigenous People's Summer weather) and I don't really feel like taking responsibility for monitoring responses in this thread over the weekend...At this point I think it's obvious that everyone who does know the answer has probably googled the quote to find that out.
Of course I could answer it and then just give a really easy one, that somebody would guess right away...
If nobody else gets this in the next couple of hours, that's what I'll do...
(Or BB can just give a new one)
