Washington:
Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump has threatened to bring Gennifer Flowers, who once had an affair with former president Bill Clinton, to this week's first presidential debate with Hillary Clinton.
Trump made the threat after fellow businessman Mark Cuban, a vocal Trump opponent and Clinton supporter, said he would be in the front row for the debate.
What seemed initially like Trump bluster soon took on a more serious tone when Flowers responded on her own Twitter account.
Shortly after, Buzzfeed confirmed that she had accepted the invitation - however, several hours later, the Trump campaign still had yet to respond with a confirmation that Trump actually planned to bring Flowers to the debate.Gennifer Flowers @gennflowers\
Hi Donald. You know I'm in your corner and will definitely be at the debate!..

Flowers said during Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign that the two of them had engaged in a lengthy affair over a dozen years. The allegation, which Clinton denied at the time, threatened to ruin his campaign.
In 1998, Bill Clinton acknowledged under oath having a sexual encounter with Flowers, though he disputed details of her account.
Clinton and Trump are to face off in the first of three televised presidential debates on Monday evening (Tuesday morning AEST).

To paraphrase a Hillary quote, “Imagine her in the Oval Office facing a real crisis. A woman you can bait with Gennifer Flowers at the Hofstra debate is not a woman we can trust with nuclear weapons.”
If this kind of Trump tactic unnerves Hillary then I'm voting for Johnson. However, I'd rather go with William Congreve, "Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd, Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd."

I'm rather optimistic that, after all the "vast right-wing conspiracy" tactics over all the years, this won't faze her at all. And I'm also rather optimistic that the way you phrased that statement, Ray, means that there's a chance that if this kind of Trump tactic does NOT unnerve her, you just might vote for her after all.If this kind of Trump tactic unnerves Hillary...
In fact, since Trump has so often projected his own weaknesses onto others, this gives the Clinton campaign one helluva hint as to the sort of tactics she might be able to use in order to unnerve him!!!

Find the woman who is accusing him of raping her when she was 13 and give her a front row ticket...one helluva hint as to the sort of tactics she might be able to use in order to unnerve him!!!

In the George Carlin thread elsewhere, he bemoaned the way that people who should know better, often confuse irony with coincidence.
This is truly ironic, that (according to himself) one of the world's most accomplished adulterers tries to shame HRC by reminding of her husband's infidelities. Bill is not standing for election. (I am well aware that there are at least two good jokes made available by that sentence. Another time.) For all her many faults, HRC chose to fight for her marriage. The presence of Gennifer Flowers at the debate should remind Christians, who after all seem to be a group whose support is sought by both candidates, which of the pair has moral strength and character. I am not holding my breath.

In the matter of forgiveness (one supposes) and marriage (demonstrably so), there's no doubt HRC stands approximately infinitely higher than the DT. He doesn't get my vote. She <hold nose> does

Re: All's fair in love...
So two people — Gennifer Flowers and Mark Cuban — have apparently scored front-row seats to a debate in order to merely piss off one or the other of the participants, taking those two seats away from people who would either have legitimate questions intended to probe the candidates on their policies and intentions or journalists who have a real duty in seeing that this is reported in a fair and balanced manner.
There's something drastically wrong here, but this style of "attack the opponent over anything BUT the issues" politics has become business as usual by now and I'll be damned if I know how we're ever going to fix it.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Sorry MGM - I should not have generalized in that way. There are many decent Christians who see Trump for what he is. My comment was aimed at the Farwell types. I could have been clearer.

You made a fair comment, Andy. No apology needed.

But once more, the Donald reverses field. An official mouthpiece for the Donald has declared there was no actual invitation. I doubt these people on the front row will have any actual interaction with either performer on stage.
I got an invitation to attend from the Hillary camp. Seat placement was not specified, but the message was clear that it was necessary for money to be exchanged.

Re: All's fair in love...
Guiliani has, of course, announced that HRC is too stupid to be president because she did not know that Bill was spreading it about.
http://www.ajc.com/news/news/national-g ... sid/nsghT/
Guiliani it was who announced to the press that he was leaving Donna Hanover, who had given up her role in The Vagina Monologues to look after Rudy because he had prostate cancer. This announcement that he was leaving Hanover to be with his new lover Judith Nathan was a surprise to Hanover.
Guiliani may deserve plaudits for some of his actions on 9/11. But there is no doubt that as a man he is a fucking arsehole. Or asshole if you prefer.

Re: All's fair in love...
I think that Clinton should invite Ivana and Marla Trump to the next debate. They can sit in the front row making gestures to each other about how tiny Donald's dick is.

But she already proved she was stupid--she was with Rudy, after all. This announcement that he was leaving Hanover to be with his new lover Judith Nathan was a surprise to Hanover.
