UNshackled

Post by Guinevere »

Because you know, wealthy white males have always struggled for personal freedom

But in any event, he's free at last:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos ... ge%2Fstory
Donald Trump lashed out Tuesday morning against House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) and other Republicans who have distanced themselves from him, as the extraordinary turbulence in the Republican Party intensified four weeks from Election Day.

In tweets, Trump called Ryan “weak and ineffective,” accused him of providing “zero support,” said Democrats are more loyal than Republicans and declared that “the shackles have been taken off” him, freeing him to “fight for America the way I want to.”
I wish I could be entertained by this, but mostly I'm disgusted and sad.

BTW, isn't he really an orange, not white, male? Perhaps orange men have been kept in shackles for too long.

"... the shackles have been taken off me ... I can now fight ... the way I want to."
Trump has just gone into full "scorched earth" mode.  I am getting mental images of the suicidal 'banzai' charges and kamikaze attacks by the Japanese during the waning months of WWII, and in the end it is the Republican Party that will suffer for it.

Now that he's unshackled, he'll just be better able to punch himself in the head and kick himself in the groin. He's gonna go down in the flames of a raging dumpster fire, and he's going to take the GOP (and the party's Senate control) with him.

Now I cant wait for the third "debate," just to see if he shows up in a suicide vest!

Trump has apparently decided he can't win, and so now he has dropped all pretext of trying to persuade undecided voters that he has the temperament and judgement to be entrusted with the Presidency, and is now instead running for President of "Breitbart Nation"...

He has also apparently decided that the failure of the Republican party to engage in sufficient ass kissing to him is the reason, (rather than his own out-of-control pathologically driven behavior) that he cannot win, so he wants to punish the party as much as possible for its lack of fealty...I think he may actually be aiming to get his popular vote number down to the hardest of the hard core (something in the mid 30s) in the knowledge that this will cost the GOP the Senate, and possibly even the House...

If were a Democrat, I would be giddy with delight at this development... :(

Yeah, well there's still four weeks to go, and the Dems have this uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Trump declares war on the Republican Party four weeks before Election Day

Donald Trump declared war on the Republican establishment Tuesday, lashing out at House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis.), Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and other GOP elected officials as the extraordinary turbulence within the Republican Party intensified four weeks from Election Day.

One day after Ryan said he would no longer campaign on Trump’s behalf, the GOP nominee said as part of a barrage of tweets that Ryan is “weak and ineffective” and has provided “zero support” for his candidacy. Trump also declared that “the shackles have been taken off” him, freeing him to “fight for America the way I want to.”

Trump called McCain “foul-mouthed” :loon and accused him with no evidence of once begging for his support. McCain is no longer backing Trump.[The truth is, it was Reince Priebus who told Trump he had to endorse Ryan and McCain, or face losing the help of the RNC. Trump also tried to take credit for McCain winning his primary when polls showed McCain with a 14 point lead before the last minute half-hearted endorsement]

In perhaps the most piercing insult of all, Trump said his party is harder to deal with than even Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, whom conservatives loathe.

“Disloyal R’s are far more difficult than Crooked Hillary,” he wrote via Twitter, his preferred platform for igniting rhetorical fights against his foes. “They come at you from all sides. They don’t know how to win — I will teach them!”

The bevy of attacks directed at his fellow Republicans for his more than 12 million Twitter followers highlighted the fierce backlash that Ryan and his allies are bracing for during the final stage of a campaign that already has wreaked havoc on the party.

In backing away from Trump, Ryan and others are hoping to insulate themselves and their majorities on Capitol Hill from the baggage weighing down the nominee’s flagging campaign. For many, the breaking point was a 2005 video reported by The Washington Post on Friday in which Trump is heard making vulgar comments about physically forcing himself on women.

But in doing so, they are already absorbing counterattacks from Trump and his army of supporters. Many Trump boosters say they have been emboldened by the fight and are determined to exact punishment on the party establishment’s down-ballot candidates.

“I do think he’s going through one of those phases where he’s going to get his rebuttals out there for the circumstances that have unfolded starting yesterday morning. And I understand why he would feel frustrated,” Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said on CNN speaking of Trump, whom he supports.

Trump dispensed with his Twitter attacks Tuesday during a light day on the campaign trail. He is raising money in Texas in the afternoon and plans to hold a rally in Panama City Beach, Fla., in the evening.

Ryan said Monday that he would no longer defend or campaign with Trump. McCain pulled his support completely on Saturday in the wake of the 2005 video. Dozens of other Republican elected officials have gone even further, calling on Trump to leave the race.

“Paul Ryan is focusing the next month on defeating Democrats, and all Republicans running for office should probably do the same,” Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck said in a statement responding to Trump’s attacks Tuesday.

While Ryan is wagering that turning his attention away from Trump will save many Republican House colleagues, some Trump loyalists are trying to ensure that the plan backfires.

Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson tweeted Monday that she could not keep her mobile phone charged “due to the mass volume of texts from people” who plan to vote for Trump but not other Republicans on the ballot.

Diana Orrock, a Republican National Committeewoman from Nevada, said she is not voting for Republicans who don’t support Trump — including Rep. Joe Heck (Nev.), who is running for a seat that is critical in the battle for the Senate majority.

Trump has come now very close to telling his rabid cultists to vote for Democrats over Republicans in down ballot elections.

How on earth can Priebus continue to expend party organization and resources on a rogue Presidential nominee who is deliberately and willfully trying to sabotage GOP control of the House and Senate? :shrug

If Priebus doesn't cut him off, then Priebus should be replaced....

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Did anyone see Cheeto, Jr. (Glenn Beck) come out and say that voting for HRC is the "moral, ethical choice." :arg He's right, but now I feel like I need to go take a shower...

What I'm worrying about now is the opposition he will foment in being the anti-Clinton standard-bearer in years to come.

I'm worried about his followers, his mouth, and Hillary's safety.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) said Monday that Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was “cowardly” for announcing that he would not defend Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and would not campaign for his election.

Ryan made his announcement on a conference call with fellow members of the Republican caucus on Monday morning, just hours after Trump had turned in a strong debate performance against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in St. Louis on Sunday night.

“Leaders are supposed to stand firm and solid in moments of crisis,” Rohrabacher told the Orange County Register. “Instead, he’s in a panic. It’s not good leadership. … I think the Republicans who are backing away are gutless. We don’t have to just be concerned about saving House seats. We have to be concerned about saving the United States of America.” Other Republican congressmen from Orange County have been critical of Trump’s comments but none has withdrawn their political support.

Ryan still technically supports Trump for president, but is seeking to insulate members of his caucus from efforts by their Democratic challengers to tie them to Trump’s latest controversy.

In some districts, the danger is real, and precedes the latest Trump controversy. In others, Republicans simply seem to be caught up in the panic of a media frenzy. Similar panic did not help Republicans, even pro-choice ones, when Democrats tried to tie them to abortion remarks by Rep. Todd Akin in 2012.

On Monday afternoon, Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer noted on Special Report that Ryan’s announcement, so soon after Trump was perceived by many to have won the debate, “ripped off the bandage” and hurt Trump’s attempt to keep the party together. ... "

Go morality! Go Gop!
