Okay, looks like we could use another clue here:
I set dinner on the dining room sideboard at 6. I clear up in the morning. I have breakfast for you at 9. I don't wait on people. I don't stay after I set out the dinner, not after it begins to get dark. I leave before the dark.

Re: Name That Movie!
Sorry it took so long was on a mini vacation. Hmm should I continue with the horror or go with the one I had lined up in my mind?

Edited to add a missing "doing"Allow me to be the first to say that what we have done here is *not* a good thing. It's definitely not a good thing. But it was, given the circumstances, the smart play.

Maybe you should mention some of the other bad things that happen in this movie...
Some of them are very bad indeed...

Re: Name That Movie!
Thanks for pinch hitting for me LJ. And congrats to crackpot for guessing correctly.
I remember watching the haunting when I was young. I was sick with a high fever and mom and I were up late and that movie came on and we watched it. One of the scariest movies I ever saw. All the fear was in your mind. No blood and guts, just mind stuff.

Re: Name That Movie!
It was a good movie oldr, and was the first I recall which took supernatural phenomena seriously; most were of the type that explained it away as a big hoax.
It was remade in the late 90s, but the remake was nowhere near as good. There was also a 70s British film--The Legend of Hell House that incorporates some of the original films moments/scares atmosphere, although the producer and director claimed this was not intentional at the time.
My favorite 60s horror film is The Innocents, based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw; it usually shows up on TV this time of year and it is one of the best gothic horror films you will ever see IMHO (it scared the hell out of me when I was a kid).

Re: Name That Movie!
I never saw the remake. The original, IMHO, was so good that any remake would pale in comparison. The only thing good about the remake was reminding me of the original, to the point I went and read the book it was based on.
Re: Name That Movie!
Not a big fan of the "horror genre" so I probably won't get lucky till November (if at all).
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Re: Name That Movie!
Since the first hint apparently didn't give it away
The movie while could very well be described as horrific would not be considered "horror".If you take away the horror of the scene, take away the tragedy of the death, take away all the moral and ethical implications that have been drilled into your head since grade one, do you know what you're left with? A 105-pound problem that needs to be moved from point A to point B.

Re: Name That Movie!
OK...(I'm not disqualified for this one; the last one I did was for oldr's movie)

I guess there just weren't enough clues for anybody else to get it...

Somehow, he seems to know all the movies.

Re: Name That Movie!
True, but that movie is in a pretty rarified class and, IMHO, not one a lot of people would like (I thought it was great, if that helps).
Re: Name That Movie!
It's a pitch black comedy. So dark that the first time I saw it I just watched in horror until the final scene as the whole morality tale aspect of the story hit me like a ton of bricks and I started laughing.
