SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for several suspects who were caught on camera brutally attacking three people outside Geno's Steaks in South Philadelphia.

The incident happened back on June 11 outside the cheesesteak landmark on the 1200 block of South 9th Street.

Patrick Kane and his wife say they were out at Geno's Steaks following a wedding.

When one of their friends asked the group of guys to a bum a cigarette, that question somehow triggered the violent brawl.

Patrick Kane says he was attacked outside Geno's Steaks in South Philadelphia.

"I got punched in the nose, then I got punched in the back of the head, I got two upper cuts to the face," Patrick Kane told Action News Monday night.
Kane says the man wearing the backwards baseball cap immediately became verbally aggressive after being asked the question.

Police are searching for several suspects who were caught on camera brutally attacking three people outside Geno's Steaks in South Philadelphia.

"Just snapped and started yelling, 'We belong to ISIS.' He shoved the one girl, hit my wife, the other guy and I tried to jump in. All of a sudden what started as one guy became five, five guys started attacking everybody," Kane said.

Geno's Steaks says they don't condone this type of violence, telling Action News: "Physical disputes are not acceptable anywhere, and shouldn't go without punishment."

The surveillance video doesn't show the attack because police say it was too graphic to release to the public.

The five men police say were behind the assault can be clearly seen in the video, as well as the woman who allegedly drove one of two getaway cars.

Police say both vehicles, a dark-colored pick-up truck and an SUV, had New Jersey plates.

But this isn't the first attack outside the popular Philadelphia staple.

In 2012, one person was arrested when cell phone video caught Flyers' fans attacking a North Jersey cop wearing a New York Rangers jersey.

Both teams had played each other in the NHL Winter Classic.

"This was stupid, senseless. It was just an easy question that you could have given an easy answer to. Can I bum a cigarette? Yes or no?" Kane said.

Customers say this could happen anywhere and still feel safe eating at Geno's.

I blame the government for taxing cigarettes so much. At $10 or more in some cities (70% of it being taxes) asking for a butt is no longer like asking for pocket change.

I was very concerned that the restaurant might approve of fist fights taking place outside their entrance...

It seems to me we don't have much to go on here to draw any conclusions...

We don't have any independent witnesses backing up the story that it was a simple request for a cigarette that started this, (this group had come from a wedding...Is it possible that they might have been intoxicated and become belligerent or abusive when the request was denied?)

And we don't have the video tape of the altercation. All we have is the story of the people on one side of the incident.

An embattled Louisiana sheriff was indicted this week by a federal grand jury following guilty pleas by eight former deputies from his department.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal is facing ten years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for ordering the beatings of five inmates at the notorious Iberia Parish Jail.

A peaceful event celebrating the planet broke out in violence when a White police officer repeatedly punched a Black teenager in the head while trying to arrest him.

Louisiana is the world's prison capital. The state imprisons more of its people, per head, than any of its U.S. counterparts. First among Americans means first in the world. Louisiana's incarceration rate is nearly five times Iran's, 13 times China's and 20 times Germany's.

First of all, Geno's sucks, so if you have to get a cheesesteak in that neighborhood at least go across the street to Pat's, although frankly Jim's at 4th and South beats them both hands down.

If you're anyplace near Flyers fans, you just have to expect a certain level of violence, drunkenness, drunken violence and vomit. It comes with the territory, and it's not exactly a secret.

I just want to say that I own neither a pick-up truck nor an SUV, and I vehemently deny being anywhere in the vicinity at the time, I have an iron-clad alibi, and I wouldn't be caught dead at Geno's in any event.

Last I heard, New Jersey was still a State of the United States, no matter what RayThom or BP/snailgate says. And of course, life everywhere in the North is just an apocalyptic hellscape of random violence and death. (Please note that the homicide rate in New Jersey is less than half that of Louisiana.)

My first suspicion when reading the story was that the victims were recognizable as Pat's Steaks customers in the wrong place at the wrong time. The it became clear the perpetrators were unwelcome aliens--from New Jersey. Anybody outside Geno's knows you don't wear your baseball hat backwards, now it must be with bill forward and large enough that the bill remains flat, or it is acceptable in cases of special need, to wear the bill to one side, but never, ever backwards.

Why did I see Arab and Joe saw black. True inner-city blacks do commit a disproportionate amount of violence, but they are not always the aggressor.

CHICAGO - Four have been charged with attempted murder in a vicious May 30 double stabbing attack on a Black man and woman at a park in the largely Irish neighborhood known as Canaryville on Chicago’s Southside.

Two males, Kevin Hoynes and David Rice, both 21, and two females Joya D. Urbikas, 18, and Courtney Vega, 19, all face attempted murder charges in connection with the May 30 incident, which left the victims with multiple stab wounds. The four suspects appeared in Cook County bond court June 7.
A family friend who was authorized by the family to discuss certain details, but did not want to be identified for fear of retaliation, told The Final Call the confrontation took place very early before dawn May 30.
She also said some of the attackers were reputed members of the Insane Deuces street gang who are said to be very active in the area. The victim, 30-year-old Kristina Fox told ABC7 News what took place was racially motivated. She posted the following account of the brutal incident using her Facebook account.

“On the morning of Saturday, May 30, 2015, my little brother, Marcus Fox, my daughter’s father, Darrius Walton, and myself were sitting in Taylor Lauridsen Park conversing with 3 Caucasian people we had just met (Courtney, Kevin, and Jodie). Everyone was having a nice time. Approximately 7-9 more Caucasian people arrived in the park. My little brother being the social butterfly he is introduced himself and began chatting with the new arrivals. After about 30 minutes, one of the guys out of the group we initially met and another from the group that arrived later got into a verbal altercation with each other. My little brother tried to calm things down but this soon escalated as everyone began jumping on him. It was at this point things turned for the worse as he and I fought this massive group of Caucasians consisting of both men and women. They were throwing glass bottles, crutches, bricks, and anything else they could find at us. As we continued to fight through this crowd of assailants to get away, more Caucasians came from out of nowhere and joined in brutally attacking us delivering closed fist blows and kicks to our bodies and head.”
Her brother, Marcus Fox suffered a punctured lung and was taken to Stroger Hospital, while Ms. Fox suffered multiple abrasions on the face, back and neck as well as multiple stab wounds to her body.

Darius Randle, Mark Carter, community organizer and radio host Afrika Porter, Jedidiah Brown of the Young Leaders Alliance, anti-violence activist Ameena Matthews of Pause for Peace and Ceasefire founder Tio Hardiman, who is also running for Congress gathered June 6 near the spot of the attack in support of the siblings who were to make sure it is known that the Black community will be watching the handing of the case by Chicago police.

There is not enough white people in prison.. The prison population should be seventy percent white at least. You don’t want your kid to a be loser, do you, get him into street gang.

It has been said for quite a while and sometimes by liberal commentators that as long as the anarchy and craziness stays in the black inner-city communities we can live with it as a nation, but if it moves outside those communities we have a serious problem. Well that appears to be the case; apparently no one cares about a mini genocide in the black community, not even a black President.
Any white person who tries to bring attention to the problem is accused of being a racist. So one says, after a while, the hell with it; it is not my problem. Why should I care as long as my kids are safe?

I still care, but it is a waste of time to worry about it we have better chance establishing a Mars colony than fixing anything in the black community. Nothing can be done about it except perhaps providing prepaid funerals, it is a self defeating situation
