Next movie (one of the first old movies I remember seeing, it's one my grandmother loved):
“I’m going to be the first to see land. Keep me eye peeled, I will. Then I’ll be the first. It’ll be like the Garden of Eden and I’m going to be the first to see it”.

Its seasonally appropriate, and not directly related to Christoph Columbe.

I think the movie was called Plymouth Adventure or Plymouth Rock Adventure. I just saw it a couple of months back on TCM.

BigRR has it - Plymouth Adventure staring Spence, Gene Tierney, and Van Johnson!

Keeping with the theme (sort of):
Look, someday you're going to find that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn't work. And when you do, don't overlook those lovely intangibles. You'll discover those are the only things that are worthwhile.
I may not be online tomorrow until late (if at all), so those wanting to get a quick up or down of your answer be forewarned

A little pre-season... 8-)

One of my all time favorite movies, but for now I'll leave it for somebody else...

Another quote would give it away (at least the ones I can think of), but here are a couple of hints: it is a story that looks at the joys and travails of childhood (and what makes childhood special), and it includes one of the most famous fictional trials in the movies.

If you had put another quote instead of a clue I wouldn't have gotten it.

I don't know, just about every other quote mentioned Christmas or Santa Claus and believing--dead giveaways IMHO.

Jack, please, I'm only an elected official here, I can't make decisions by myself!
Really fits the season. If you guys don't get this I don't know what I'll do most of the other quotes are in verse.
