Cubbies have scored two in the top of the tenth to make it 8-6; still batting with bases loaded, one out ... Cleveland making a pitching change.
added ... Indians escape without any further damage.
now ——— HOLD 'EM, CUBBIES!!!

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

You realize, of course, that the explosion of Krakatoa in 1883 is going to be like a firecracker fart compared to the eruption that will occur in Chicago if the Cubbies manage to win this thing.

They did it.

That was honestly one of the best baseball games I have ever seen. Well played game and series by both sides. Congrats Cubbies, you deserve it!

Curse ends: Cubs win 1st World Series since 1908

I'm sitting here in my car, in the parking lot of Resurrection Hospital, on the far far northwest side of Chicago (way out near O'Hare), listening to the radio and watching, in every direction, the most spectacular fireworks display I'very seen in many a year.
I can only imagine the pandemonium going on around Clark and Addison.

I agree Sue, one of the best baseball games I ever watched in my life - only beat by that BoSox/Yanks game in '04 but really only because of that rivalry. Tonight was just so nail biting and tense and incredibly well played by both teams, a baseball game I would actually watch again it was just that good!
Real sorry for the Tribe but they just hadn't waited long enough; much love to all the Cubs fans everywhere and may the riotous celebration in Chicago be as safe as possible!

What a fantastic conclusion to a super series...
Congratulations Cubs fans, but I hope you don't let this go to your head...
I hope you don't think that this now entitles you to win a World Series every 108 years....

go orioles... (he said dejectedly)
I just don t get excited about the world series unless the AL East is in it...
I figure that if the O s finish second in the East, and the top team in the East wins the Series, I can imagine that the orioles are the second best team in baseball....
...or third best at worst...
the curse of Brooksie...., peter Angelos should kiss his ass at least once before they both croak of old age....sheesh...
even figuratively would be ok.....

No one has mentioned the architect of the two greatest curse reversals of all time: Theo Epstein vanquished the ghost of Babe Ruth from Boston, and now he has sent the goat, Bartman, and all of those other ghosts out of Chicago.
Congrats Cubs, and well done Theo!

Well played game with four errors? and some boneheaded decisions by at least one of the managers. But it was a good compelling game.Sue U wrote:That was honestly one of the best baseball games I have ever seen. Well played game and series by both sides. Congrats Cubbies, you deserve it!

THIS IS WHAT A WORLD SERIES IS SUPPOSED TO BE. (Yes I know exactly what all caps means on the web.) I want to be loud enough for my son in Oklahoma, W***e S*x fan and Cubbie hatter, to hear me.

Re: A Thread For The Playoff Games Of A Sport That Matters..
To me, the errors are pretty irrelevant (unless truly egregious), and one can always second-guess pitching changes; I judge a game by the fun factor. I like seeing how the pitchers and batters match wits and skills, how the players capitalize on both opportunities and mistakes, and how the teams handle the see-saw momentum of the game. And of course there is little in sports so beautiful as a well-executed triple play. I don't track stats or even fill out a scorecard. I'd rather just have a beer and watch the game unfold.Guinevere wrote:Well played game with four errors? and some boneheaded decisions by at least one of the managers. It may have taken the Cubs 108 years to finally come out on top but that entire series -- a full seven games, plus the last game forced into extra innings -- is going to go down as one of the best games in the last 108 years in baseball history. And that will be the last baseball I watch until next year's series.
