The Wall
The Wall
I don t believe that congress will approve an extensive wall.
I don t really want an extensive wall.
I m one of those nuts who likes the free flow of wildlife.
I like the idea of the survival of the Mexican wolf
I like that jaguars are trying to come back, ocelots too
tortoises , turkeys...
I do want a secure border and believe that retired Special Forces are our best long term option for securing the wild areas of the border.
they can do wildlife surveys while on duty and kill two birds with one dollar.
what trump can do is to declare the border a matter of national security and mobilize the Guard to the border.
that will get the attention of congress and will motivate them to approve the wall in populated areas..., pronto.
easy peasy.
the art of the deal.....

Re: The Wall

he always said that the wall was only going where needed.
lie # 1 for scooter.
keep 'em coming, I m just in the mood for disputing your bullshit.
I do hope that meade will join in.....
going out in the garden now tho...., got my new exoskeleton yesterday and want to see where it needs to be adjusted.
one more tune up and it should be good...
eta- you really believe that trump supporters are some group of racist, facist, Nazis, don t you? that they don t understand bargaining or deals?

Re: The Wall
Why would Congress have to approve something Mexico will pay for?
Re: The Wall
c, mon man..., be serious.
(did you get the Obama reference?)
Re: The Wall
But it's going to be so good, believe him.
I'll be interested to see how Trump supporters are at the end of January when the deportation buses/planes/ships aren't rolling/sailing, Mexico hasn't sent the money for the wall, and the undocumented immigrants still remain free.

Re: The Wall
RR, no one expects mexico to cut a check for the wall.
we aren t stupid.
hell, just put a dollar toll at the border crossings and it ll self fund as it goes....
there are a million ways to get funds from mexico, but really it is our responsibility to defend our own border and I doubt that any trump supporter would mind if we funded the wall ourselves.
we don t hate our neighbors who came here illegally and we don t want them to suffer.
we aren t hateful people.
look at the horrible things that scooter , rube, BB , and others say about their fellow human beings.
are they any better than the Nazi types?

Re: The Wall
Maybe you don't, but some people take a candidate at their word, and I am sure there are those sort of people among Trump supporters.RR, no one expects mexico to cut a check for the wall
But a few of questions for you:
You apparently think some things Trump says are just jokes or exaggerations, and some are not--how do you know the difference?
And, more importantly, do you think he knows the difference (FWIW, I don't think Trump does, or even cares about the difference)?
Is there any campaign promise you expect him to adhere to, or are you willing to just let him chart his own path regradless of what he says?
Re: The Wall
I expect him to keep all of his promises, within reason and possibility.
that leaves a lot of leeway.
trump supporters have given him enormous leeway to this point because they believe that he wants to serve his country, AND ITS PEOPLE, they will continue to give him leeway as long as he is headed in the right direction.
he stated from the beginning that all of his positions were negotiable. we all heard that and believed it and it seemed reasonable to us.
I think that you undersestimate a vast swath of America.
you don t have elitist attitudes on purpose, I think, but they are there.
everyone has their own prejudices, whether or not they can see them....
you have talked to me for a long while now.
do you think that I am stupid or hateful or uninformed?
maybe I m the exception, but, really, I m nuthin' special, just a bit more literate than the average joe six pack.

Re: The Wall
wes--I don't think any given group of people of uniformly stupid (or intelligent for that matter)--there are smart and stupid and average people (and multiple mixtures of those characteristics) of all persuasions and political positions. When I see people cheering about building a wall and having Mexico pay, I take them at their word that it is what they expect to be done; certainly, it may ultimately be infeasible, but they expect it to be tried in earnest.
In 1972 when I voted for McGovern I didn't expect him to end the war right away as he said, but I did expect him to make it a priority and not engage in business as usual. Sue, he might be blocked by congress, but I expected him to try and deliver on what he campaigned on.
My problem with position is, I guess, that I do not want my candidate whipping people up by saying things (s)he doesn't mean, whether it's building a wall or raising taxes on the rich or ending obamacare, or whatever. I am not quite so sanguine as to say no one really believes that--what is the point in saying it then? I don't think it elitist to think there are people in the Trump camp that believe as I do, and that expect their candidate to mean what (s)he says. You obviously have a different idea, and I ma certain there are others like you.

"Reason" and a reference to Trump — with all sincerity — in the same sentence.wesw wrote:I expect him to keep all of his promises, within reason and possibility.
Just ..... wow.
By the way ... who's picking up the tab for that exoskeleton? Last I heard they were somewhere in the range of $100K each.
-"BB"-
Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: The Wall
mine was 1700 bucks, my share was 294 which I paid in cash and will leave me broke for a couple months.
I worked for thirty years . I have medicare now.
but go ahead and criticize , I m ok with that.
the fact that I was not working almost drove me to suicide a few years ago, but I m ok with it now, so do your worst.
it was waaay too much for a piece of plastic and foam with a few straps but for 294 I was happy to get it.
now that I see how it is made I can fabricate my own next time, when this one wears out.
I may go back for the free tune-ups and adjustments, or I may just do them myself, I haven t decided yet.
add a little memory foam here and there..., trim a little plastic...
easy peasy.
ps. why are you such a dick?

Re: The Wall
Trump better try hard enough to convince the people that there this is hope for the future or in four years Sanders or a socialist protégé will get their chance. And the rich elite are not going to like that, things like a ninety percent income tax. All the money that Bill Gates claims he wants to give to the world he can give to the US treasury and more. If we have to steal every penny the rich liberal elite have our children are not going to live in poverty. If trump fails I am ready to try socialism.
The wall, not a fence, but a forty foot high prefabricate wall can and should be built. After the wall is built and the border is reasonably secure we then can afford to be generous toward the illegal immigrants.

Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

Re: The Wall
I expect the wall to be built, border guards increased, etc.
The wall was supposed to be built years ago, congress dropped the ball and no one called them on it.
Who pays remains to be seen.

Re: The Wall
liberty, telling trump what he had better do is just silly and self defeating.
he will make his own decisions and make the deals that are necessary and possible, then we will judge him in four years.
don t be angry, we won. (I assume that you voted for trump, but since you advocate multiple wives, I m not sure that you didn t go for mc mullin...
if you have ideas for him I d bet that he will have a site for you to express them and I d bet that he will consider them, if they are good. he believes that people are people and smart people are smart people, no matter what their income or education levels. that is what I see from him .
he doesn t bow to ultimatums, not that I m aware of anyway.....
