Name That Movie!
Name That Movie!

Re: Name That Movie!
Uhh, that would be a no...
I have to say that this:
Doesn't really sound all that much like a Thanksgiving season movie...
I have to say that this:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1646114/The story about a few days in the life of truck driver Georgi seems to be a never-ending nightmare, a spiral of violence and abuses of power. A man goes to work and on his way he is sucked into the everyday madness of his country, losing his health and memory in the process. A dark parable about the situation in deep Russia today.
Doesn't really sound all that much like a Thanksgiving season movie...

the hint should give it away.

Was that just a random contribution, or a recommendation? Because I'm just the sort of chick that appreciates dark and dreary movies that reflect a slice of real life . . .RayThom wrote:

This was also made into a movie with Liz Taylor (her first movie, I believe).

Alice, I've had enough garbage for one day, yours and theirs.
As a former owner of a red VW microbus (not to mention the shovels and rakes and implements of destruction), I've gotta grab this one.

So we'll wait for it to come around on the guitar here and sing it when it does.

Here it comes.

Re: Name That Movie!

You got it just as I was getting ready to post another clue:
"The story of this film is much better known as something other than a movie; something that I would venture to say nearly everyone here is familiar with..."
I play the CD in the kitchen every Thanksgiving morning while I'm food prepping...

Re: Name That Movie!
Unfortunately, my repertoire of movies is so limited that I can't quite think of anything "seasonal"....
Here's something else, then:
Listen, I'm a politician, which means I'm a cheat and a liar, and when I'm not kissing babies I'm stealing their lollipops. But it also means I keep my options open.

Primary Colors? (Another guess, based wholly on content of quote & LJ's hints.)

Re: Name That Movie!
I don't think so because I've seen this movie (I just can't remember it)
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

No to dales (also not The Hillary Clinton Story), no to BSG.
Wrong genre for both of you.
I sorta thought this one might be easy, too. Well, between me and Jim we've thrown enough hints out there for now...I'm just gonna leave it overnight and see what happens tomorrow.

Still no more guesses? Hmmmmm...
Well, I guess you might have been able to call this one "seasonal" in a certain way last month...

Re: Name That Movie!
Wish I hadn't googled it, but I was certain the movie quote was from something I hadn't seen. Instead it's a movie I've seen several times, and it wouldn't take me long to hunt for it in my DVD collection. I've read the book, too.

The movie is Hunt for Red October. A really well done film and a terrific book.

Re: Name That Movie!
Appropriate on several levels (one of which is that I'm in the city where this movie was set):
I am not a Pollack. People from Poland are Poles. They are not Pollacks. But what I am is one hundred percent American. I'm born and raised in the greatest country on this earth and I'm proud of it. And don't you ever call me a Pollack.

Name That Movie!
This was too easy.
