A Genuine Feel Good Story...

Post by Lord Jim »

(No, seriously...if you were expecting sarcasm, you'll be disappointed...)

President George H.W. Bush shares happy update on cancer victim for whom he shaved head

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine - President George H. W. Bush shared a nice update on Patrick, the child of a Secret Service detail member who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Bush volunteered to shave his head to show his support for Patrick in 2013. Patrick, whose father Jon is a member of the Bush Protective Division (BPD), was being treated for leukemia and started losing his hair.

The 89-year-old former commander in chief took the unusual step after learning and seeing that many members of his security detail had already gone under the razor to show their support for Patrick.

"Incredibly #thankful that my friend Patrick, the courageous young man (with hair!) to my left, is feeling and doing much better these days," Bush posted on Twitter.

The Bushes lost their second child, 4-year-old Robin, to leukemia 63 years ago.

Well done that man.

Watever you think of his politics, I have never once heard anything negative about GHW Bush as a person.

:ok

And, TBH, his sons also seem MUCH more compassionate and, well, human than the current President-elect... *SIGH*
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

You could say the same thing about any of the animatronic figures in the Disney World "Hall of Presidents" attraction.
In fact, the animatronic critters in the old Showbiz Pizza's "Rock-a-fire Explosion" show were more compassionate and human than the current president-elect....

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I almost (almost) voted for the man in 1988. And of course I worked in the EPA under his Administration and Administrator.

That's certainly a nice gesture of solidarity. However, H.W. has a very high forehead and shaving what's left wasn't such a stretch for him.
