Re: Name That Movie!
Agreed. That reads almost like the intertitle (dialog card) from an old silent movie. So I'm going to say, "The Clansman".Lord Jim wrote:And people accuse me of using old movies...MajGenl.Meade wrote:“On the battlefield. War claims its bitter, useless sacrifice. (At its premiere the film was entitled "The Clansman", but the title was later changed to "The Birth of a Nation" to reflect Griffith's belief that the United States emerged from the American Civil War and Reconstruction as a unified nation.)

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Thanks. Good choice, considering today's reality vis-à-vis the upcoming Trump administration. It serves to remind us that America has faced dark and frightening chapters in its history before but has always emerged the better for it.MajGenl.Meade wrote:Nice one, BB. Take it away!

Next quote:

"My father was a writer. You would've liked him. He used to say that artists use lies to tell the truth, while politicians use them to cover the truth up."

Re: Name That Movie!
Time for a second quote, I guess:

-"BB"-
And another thing .... this is NOT an old movie."Your own father said that artists use lies to tell the truth. Yes, I created a lie. But because you believed it, you found something true about yourself."

Re: Name That Movie!
BSG, it doesn't look like anybody else is going to get this; if you know it you should take it...(or I will....)

Re: Name That Movie!
You go ahead, LJ - I was kinda sure but did have to Google to confirm so I count that as a cheat. Great movie, one I need to watch again soon.

You're sure to get a chance...Great movie, one I need to watch again soon.
It's on BBC America every couple of months:

The first time I saw it was on BBC America several years ago, so I had assumed it was a BBC production...
