Name That Movie!
Re: Name That Movie!
Let's all use it for avatars, anything to make wesw shoot his computer!!
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Re: Name That Movie!
Had to work, and then went out for some adult time alone, so I'm just getting to this now.
LJ, you've got it.
And you're up.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: Name That Movie!
Another holiday classic:
Can you believe this? It's Christmas Eve and we got orders to bring in Santa Claus.

Re: Name That Movie!
The santa clause.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Name That Movie!

Re: Name That Movie!
Let me add that when I called this a "classic", that may have been a stretch...

Re: Name That Movie!
It's a classic in its own way
Silent Night, Deadly Night

PUNISH!

PUNISH!
Re: Name That Movie!
To tell the truth, I thought that quote originally came from Miracle on 34th Street and was used here, but maybe not.
Also, as I recall, the original title of this movie was to be Slay Ride, but it was rejected by the studio (I think they thought it was too provocative)

Big RR gets it...Silent Night, Deadly Night
That's true, but not really a gather-the-family-to-watch holiday classic...(Except for maybe the Addams family)It's a classic in its own way
Frankly I was surprised Meade didn't get this one; I'm sure he has it in his holiday film collection...

Re: Name That Movie!
In the holiday spirit:
St. Nicholas is not coming this year. Instead a much darker ancient spirit... He and his helpers do not come to give but to take. He is the shadow of St. Nicholas.

Re: Name That Movie!
And Crackpot has it--over to you.
Re: Name That Movie!
Knew the legend took a guess never saw the movie.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Name That Movie!
Interesting, I had heard a similar story about mischievous elves who punished the bad kids at chrsitmas, but I never heard of a "Krampus" until the movie.
Re: Name That Movie!

Interesting article on the origins and history; apparently the myth goes back to pre-Christian times:

Re: Name That Movie!
A special holiday version of the boogeyman.
Although there are some parts of the Santa Claus legend than can be just as creepy ...
And don't get me started on that ratfink "elf on the shelf" dude.

Guy must have an intelligence system and a network of informants that the CIA could only dream about."he knows if you are sleeping; he knows when you're awake.
He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness' sake."

Name That Movie!
The Elf when off the shelf. Hey, everyone needs some down time.
