Calif. adult store employees ward off armed robber by throwing sex toys at him
By Alyssa Pereira
Two women working at a San Bernardino adult store reportedly fought off a robber ostensibly armed in a most resourceful fashion: by using their store's, um, products to shoo him away.
On Wednesday evening, a man in a gray sweatshirt holding what appeared to be a gun walked into Lotions & Lace only 15 minutes before the store was going to close for the night. According to LAist, the would-be burglar demanded the cash in the register — something that one employee identifying herself only as "Amy" would not oblige.
"With the gun, he walked in. I just thought he was trying to be funny, to scare us," she told ABC 7 News. "But then I saw the gun and it was like, really? I don't have time for this."
After Amy began to yell at the robber, he grabbed her arm, at which point the other employee started hurling adult toys at him.
In retrospect, the woman throwing the toys called the man a "coward" and noted that she and her co-worker are "pretty feisty."
It is unclear if the robber's gun was fake — although KNTV notes it was — but as a general rule of thumb, keep in mind that it's probably best not to confront armed burglars.
