I m not bitter. I didn t lose my position.

you got the wrong end of the stick somewhere liberty.

i miss the work...., sometimes.

i miss the feeling of accomplishment when making an impossible deadline, or making a huge member bend to your will...., or handling and moving a huge assembly...

...or building a difficult assembly.

but i can tell you, i don t miss the 9 inch grinders one bit, i don t miss the 70lb mag drills... (i do wish that i had a lil slugger tho), i don t miss the welding fumes, or the steel dust in the air, or the diesel fumes.

i do miss the money, but i never took very good care of it anyway....

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Or she could always follow Wes's example and make a huge member bend to her will.

Just the example we want to send to any student .... quit when it gets too difficult.

for those of you who doubt the intelligence of those in the steel trade I will tell you something.

many stupid people start in the shop, but they are quickly weeded out.

it is a dangerous place. they are either injured or they injure others or, most often..., they are run off by the other guys before they hurt someone.

now in the office?

oh, there are some right idiots in the office..... :D

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I prefer working with wood over metal but I can work with metal. Dad was a tool and die maker and I spent many a summer (and saturdays) working in "The Shop". No CnC machines back then. Grinding and milling were done by "feel" and constant measuring.
Never got good at welding though.
