Elf 'n safety

Post by Gob »

A shopping centre elf was sacked after apparently macing a family with a three-year-old girl.

Mum Elsie Brooks said she had taken her daughter Ileighana to the Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, last week, along with her friend Christina MacDonald and her mum Selma Brooks.

She claimed that one of Santa’s elves repeatedly yelled at her mother to stay behind the line when they tried to take their own photos, so they took another one so they could file a complaint.

The elf, 33-year-old Shannon Athena Watkins, then allegedly maced MacDonald and Selma Brooks in the face, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.

Watkins has since received a criminal summons for two counts of simple assault, and was suspended from her job.

Elsie claims Watkins was ‘really nasty’ and yelled at them continuously. When they tried to complain to the mall’s security, she said, the elf pepper sprayed them.

‘It’s very, very sad, to see someone… being that rude and ugly,’ Selma told Fox. ‘My face was on fire. My eyes somewhat still burn.’

Cherry Hill Photo Enterprises, which runs the Santa experience, issued a statement saying: ‘Our employee involved in this incident has been suspended pending further investigation.’

But Watkins’ mother Frances Bruebaker wrote a lengthy comment on Facebook in which she said ‘there are two sides to every story’.

‘After being warned [about taking their own photos], the woman grabbed her child’s hand, calling my daughter a BITCH in FRONT OF HER CHILD SEVERAL TIMES,’ she wrote.

Bruebaker claimed her daughter was the one who called security, and when guards ‘failed to do anything’ then Watkins pepper sprayed one of the women.

As the other woman came up behind her and yelled ‘What the hell’, she continued, the elf pepper sprayed her too.

‘Do I agree with my daughter’s actions???? No but security did not respond to the situation, and on top of already having a bad day in general a person can only take so much,’ Bruebaker added.

‘If a hand were placed on her then hell yes… Spray her ass.’

I'm sure those women were ill-behaved and treated the elf girl very impolitely, but pepper spray is not for such occasions - so the elf probably deserves what she gets.

The security guard should be terminated for refusing to enforce the policies that the mall instructed the elf to follow; there's no picture of the elf, but even if she was a jolly big elf, I can see her feeling threatened with those three very large ladies in her face screaming.

On second thought, maybe the pepper spray makes a kind of sense . . .

Ileighana
???

Pepper spray seems almost compulsory
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
