25 or so Representatives are now boycotting the Coronuration, but not one Senator. I'd LOVE to see Cory Booker say no, to start.

Oh, and BTW - if you want to protest 1/20 by not watching, don't leave your TV OFF. Turn it ON, and set it to a channel that won't be covering the events of the day.

For me, not watching TV is "as per usual". unless of course rich rednecks are praying, hunting, fishing and blowing things up or the Vikings are raiding the english or the french :ok
That being said, I don't think I have ever watched an inauguration. :shrug
But that's just me.

and as Jaraxle said, I'll be at work.

I m just curious as to whether or not he is able to book the Rolling Stones to play after his speech.

nothing would be better than to have this be the final song of the show.....

that really is the best version of that song ever.

amazing.

the Rock and Roll circus was not played for like 40 yrs because john lennon wouldn t agree to its re release or something like that.

I understand because he, yoko, and everyother performer othe than the Stones and Jethro Tull, sucked.

I think that they were all tripping their balls off, except for the stones....

Jethro seemed to be tripping too but it seemed to enhance his performance.

it s worth watching the whole show if only for yoko s caterwauling.

funniest. thing. ever.

I'm at a conference all day Friday and a firm reception for our clients thereafter, so no, I won't be watching one second of it either. But some people will be home, and others would stream it while at work. We have a TV set up in our largest conference room which they use (among other things) for significant local and national events so we can check in (hoping to stave off the ongoing distraction of employees streaming entire events from their desks, I'm sure). I wonder what they will do for Friday. My bet is nothing will be playing, but if anyone asks, then they will turn it on.

Wesw, you seem to be confused as to the order of events, generally, and the order of what happens on coronuration day, specifically.

The "concert" is on Thursday on the grounds of the Lincoln Memorial. According to the press release, special guests include: “Toby Keith, Jon Voight, Jennifer Holliday, The Piano Guys, Lee Greenwood, RaviDrums, 3 Doors Down, and The Frontmen of Country (featuring Tim Rushlow, former lead singer of “Little Texas”, Larry Stewart of “Restless Heart” and Richie McDonald of “Lonestar”).” (and I got that from Breitbart, so it must be true -- although Jennifer Holliday has backed out). I do not see the Stones listed as performers.

Friday is the swearing in ceremony itself, and that's where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (minus those with a conscious) will perform. Some of the Rockettes, too. Followed by a parade, followed by the balls. Again, those trooth-tellers at Breitbart seem to have missed the memo about the Stones.

But I take it you believe they are going to show up on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol and play for the "crowd" on Friday. Unannounced even. Yes, I'm *sure* that will happen. Absolutely. Without a doubt.

I'm puzzled by the recommendations to watch another channel in order to protest the inauguration - it's my understanding that only Nielsen viewership can be tracked? Except of course, livestream web viewership is trackable.

Just curious, as people are posting such info all over the Facebook pages and yet the research I've done indicates that viewership can't be quantified in that way. Does anybody else know anything about the powers of the cable providers to track non-Nielsen families' viewership?

I fully admit that I am unaware of the traditional schedule of inauguration events.

I am aware that trump is all about breaking tradition and am hopeful that the Stones will arise from some trapdoor, under some stage, at some time, and play their old asses off

unpredictable. haven t you been paying attention?

If you're unaware, then you should make yourself aware and get over to DC on Friday. I don't think it will be all that crowded. Thousands of more buses (because you know, real people travel that way, not via limo and private jet) will be pulling in on Saturday for the Women's March.

Maybe he can book a Rolling Stones tribute band:
The B Street Band, who are set to play Garden State Gala on 20 January, appeared at both of Obama’s inaugurations and were booked for this year’s event in 2013

No celebration associated with Donald Trump’s inauguration was ever going to be able to secure the services of Bruce Springsteen to provide the entertainment. But a Springsteen covers band? More doable. And so the Garden State Presidential Inaugural Gala – New Jersey State Society’s bash for a new president, held in Washington DC at every inauguration – booked the B-Street Band, exactly as it had done for the Obama inaugurations in 2009 and 2013. This time, though, given Springsteen’s own denouncement of the incoming president, the response to the booking was swift and condemnatory.

Even E Street Band bassist Garry Tallent was angered, tweeting: “Please tell me this is more fake news. Or at least a joke.”

The B Street Band themselves have been shocked by the response. “I’ve been beaten down. I haven’t slept. I’ve been up all night,” founder member and keyboard player Will Forte told Rolling Stone. He has also pointed out the event is a non-political New Jersey event and not associated with Trump, telling Billboard: “We’re just working stiffs, working musicians … who got invited to play a ball for guys like us, regular jerks, and it’s non-political and just a celebration of the changing-over of power.”

In fact, the B Street Band were asked to play the 20 January New Jersey ball not only before Trump won the election, but long before he was even a candidate. Forte told Rolling Stone the band had been booked for the event just a week after performing at the 2013 inauguration.

In a statement to fans, he said: “In 2009, The B Street Band was honoured to be contracted by the NJ inaugural ball to perform at their gala celebrating Barack Obama’s election. The NJ State Society was so impressed, they immediately hired the band for their gala four years later in 2013. At that time we performed for President Obama’s successful re-election. The gala again enjoyed our NJ Shore-flavoured style and signed us a third time for the 2017 gala.”

Oh look, as usual, Snopes can help avoid embarrassment:

http://www.snopes.com/change-channel-on-inauguration/

Quick answer - no, it doesn't matter if you watch, watch another channel, have the tv on or off - unless you're a Nielsen household.

I saw dozens of people posting this on Lawyers of the Left and Pantsuit Nation FB pages and was really a bit stunned by the cluelessness of so many educated folk.

I am hopeful that Trump will break with tradition and become the first President to resign immediately after taking the oath of office and then descend through some trapdoor...

guin, I ve only ever seen the whitehouse once when I was a boy in 6th grade, I remember it as a happy place where we walked right up to the fences, people strolled by,

there was a little street with shops, touristy stuff to be sure , but nice....

there was traffic and normal life went on all around the people s house.

that s the way I remember it anyway, I think that I ll keep it that way instead of seeing the fortress atmosphere that I imagine has replaced my idyllic memories...

it was a class field trip and we saw the capitol and Lincoln memorial and all that jazz.

we did take a few family trips to the museums and the zoo, but I only remember seeing the whitehouse that once. we may or may not have driven by it other times, I can t remember.

I mostly remember the whitehouse and the street near it, and the Lincoln memorial. I was awestruck by that.

I have never watch one either. I can’t imagine watching anything more boring; about all of it I can stand is about five minutes on the news. 8-) I didn’t watch emperor Obama’s coronation either.
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Ever since hiring Hell's Angels as security for Altamont, I don't believe the Stones ever allowed drugs or poor judgment to rule in the concert venues again. I think you'd have a better chance of getting all 4 Beatles to play for the inauguration.
