Speaking of the vote count, if a vote was voiced but not cast in the final poll that was set up, it was not counted.

I did not see any documentation on that rule change. And yes it's a rule change as I cast the deciding vote in year 1 in a post and not in the vote poll.
So we need a recount where my vote (my constitutionally guaranteed vote) is properly counted. There were no hanging chads, nor hacking of my voting computer. I damand to be counted.

Boo!!! Harrumph! Since none of the top vote getters recieved 50% of the vote thier names should be removed from consideration and a new poll should be conducted with the remaining candidates!

Look at it this way, Crackpot.  Sure, 64% of the people who voted for "Person of the Year" did not vote for Lord Jim.
But of the same voters, 95% of them did not vote for you.

Not to mention that I wasn't even considered, not even briefly, but you don't see me pissing and moaning about it, do you?

I apologize for the delay, but frankly I was overwhelmed...(well okay, the fact that I also had an important client conference call may have contributed to the delay, but no need to mention that...)

Overwhelmed and humbled...

Overwhelmed and humbled, not just by the great honor of winning that has been bestowed upon me, but also by the (as Joe correctly pointed out) historic nature of this victory...

I realize that being the person who has been elevated to PBPOTY with the highest percentage of the vote of anyone in the history of Plan B, and with the highest number of members participating in the election in the history of Plan B, places an additional responsibility upon my shoulders...

(And of course being the sort of modest, self-effacing person I am, you can count on me to never mention those facts again....)

It was a hard fought campaign, that at times got a little rough...

And I understand that there may be some lingering bitterness...(I'm still waiting for my congratulatory phone call from rube...)

But of course this election has never been about me; it's always been about you...all the members of Plan B...

This isn't really my victory...it's your victory...

So now that the election is over, it's time to bind up the board's wounds...

I pledge to go forward with charity for all, and malice towards none...(well, okay, maybe malice towards one or two...)

I would like to step in here and make a quick announcement. Contrary to what most of you believe, I do listen to your concerns regarding the Plan B Person of the Year nomination and voting process and I take them very seriously. Therefore, I propose that next year's Plan B Person of the Year election will have new exciting enhancements and built-in security measures that will prevent any possible chance of voter tampering.

That is not to imply that the vote count for Plan B Person of the Year 2016 was inaccurate, nor is it implication that any cheating was involved by the winner that involved inside or outside tampering by an entity attempting to influence this year's election.

Additionally, this is not an inference that payment or promises of any kind was made in exchange for votes and it certainly isn't intended to give people the idea that Lord Jim is guilty of malfeasance of any type.

The vote count indicated in the Plan B Person of the Year 2016 poll is final and we all must recognize that fact and move on. I, for one, wish Lord Jim success during his term as Plan B Person of the Year 2016 regardless of any unfounded suspicions regarding vote count manipulation.
