I got involved helping an organization (made up of Republicans) that was trying to deny him the nomination even after he had gotten the delegate votes to win it, (in fact I was involved with other Republicans trying to get him off the ticket even as late as a month before the election)

Also of course, Trump won the nomination with more than 50% of Republican primary and caucus voters voting against him...


But if you really want to play the "100% on them" game, I suppose it's also worth pointing out that the Democrats managed to nominate someone who could lose to Donald Trump....

I agree with rubato that Mitt Romney's capitulation to Trump in hopes of a job was the end of his credibility, even though I rooted for him to get SoS. He should have known Trump was just toying with him for revenge, and he should have led the loyal opposition instead - because he should have been unwilling to work for a man he described so harshly & accurately as utterly unfit to serve.

After Trump was nominated, those responding to pollsters as "self-described Republicans" include a substantial number of people who previously would not have identified themselves as Republicans except for the fact that Trump was the Republican nominee, and do not include a substantial number of long-time Republican voters who chose to identify themselves as independents because Trump was the nominee....
