One of my favorite things about being home is the access to fresh & excellent seafood of all kinds, but especially a great fish & chips. There's a drive-in just down the road from my house that does an excellent fish & chips from fresh caught/bought daily, plus he makes an excellent homemade tarter sauce - YUMMY! Closed for the season at the moment, but opening again March 3rd - can't wait!

When we move back to Blighty, I'll be walking down the cove a couple of mornings a week, to see what catch the boats have brought in. I know most of the guys fishing out of the cove, so I'm betting on mates rates.

Our house is off to the right of the second image, fortunately away from the beach crowds.

The round building in that shot was a winch house for hauling boats up the slip, man powered. It's now a fine art gallery, run by my mate Martin's wife.

FWIW, here's a list of the the 7 remaining Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips locations: 3 in Suffolk County, NY; 3 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio; 1 in Akron, Ohio.

"... “This year was definitely Kingfisher’s year – they stood out immediately for their extensive knowledge and experience, robust sourcing policies, forward-thinking approach, and continual business growth,” said Ben Bartlett, master craftsman of the Craft Guild of Chefs and a member of this year’s final judging panel. “With inspiring passion, they are consistently looking to improve their offering and strive for perfection – making them extremely worthy winners and the perfect ambassadors for the fish and chip industry.” ..."

So they found a way of judging restaurants which did not rely on food quality or service. In England. Sometimes people surprise you with a higher level of self knowledge that you would expect.

Rubato's such a stupid spunkbubble he doesn't realise what; "extensive knowledge and experience, " or "improve their offering and strive for perfection" actually means.

Wow, that's less than 2 miles from my house. I pass by there at least twice a week. (i go to an AA meeting just up the block from there). Never noticed it.

But he is witty and uses language well, which you apparently cannot.

That's a highly debatable point.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

If wit were dynamite, you wouldn't have enough to blow your nose.
