No, I don't think I will be bored.

Older, I have been thinking about building me a lumber saw. There are two types I could at least try to build. The reciprocating gang saw or a band saw. The reciprocating saw would be easier to build and a safer to operated, but slow. The band saw would be faster, but a lot more difficult to build and dangerous to operate. There are a lot more balance and alignment considerations in build a band saw.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

What about the Cornish liberation front and establishing the Celtic league for a united Celtic people? Oh, maybe you don't want to talk about that in public. :)

No problem. The band saw idea might be too much as the blade band needs to be large and you would probably need a spot welder to "repair" the blade when it breaks (and it will). Sharpening is a bitch also. But it would have a longer time between sharpenings as compared ot the recip.
When you are ready, PM me and I'll give you my email, but I think you have it already.

Based what I have been told by the saw mill operator I talked to the bands do break on a somewhat regular basis. I understand that most of the time it is no big deal. The band blade breaks, come off the rollers, but stays inside the housing. However, sometimes when it breaks the blade manages to come out of its housing and dance around the work area. It is a rare occurrence, but it is one of the reasons that the operator sits inside a steal cage.

Oh great news!!!!
Provided you do not take any LWOP or LSL prior to the 1/12/2017 your entitlement would be 4 months and 6 days
So for the first 4 months of retirement I will still be on full pay. Or I can choose to have 8 months at 1/2 pay!!

Let the "Go work" jokes commence!!!

Out Of Interest

Post by RayThom »

I have been "retired" since 2001. I was on SSD until my benefits were changed over to SSI in 2015. I have a comfortable existence, but a life... not so much. I'm coping with "solitary confinement" as long as I get a few hours a day in the exercise yard.

I look around at the state of the economy and I know it could be much worse. I now wait to see how Trump plans to effect my sentence.

Anyway, be care what you 'work' for.

There's a lot of valuable experience in life that is available cheaply or even free.

Not sure how bad your disability is, but if you can get outside, state and national parks are lovely places that are generally low cost entrance fees - sometimes free for the disabled.

And then of course, libraries! And check to see if yours has a program providing free passes to museums and other educational opportunities in your area.

MIT provides free online access to their entire body of courses - arguably one of the finest educational institutions on the planet!

Volunteering is free, connects you to like-minded people, and warms the cockles of the heart.

Remind yourself on a regular basis that you live better as a person on SS in the USA than @ 5-6 billion people on the planet. Perspective is everything! Don't watch too much commercial television, where the average lifestyle depicted is six figures and up.

Read The Desiderata daily. Take heart.

Long service leave.
Accrual
Permanent, temporary and casual employees are entitled to accrue Long Service Leave (LSL). Employees may be granted leave to the extent of pro-rata long service leave credits after seven years eligible service.

LSL accrues at the rate of nine calendar days for each year of service. After 10 years of effective service an employee will be entitled to 3 months full pay LSL.

Employees will receive payment on separation of any pro-rata entitlements after seven years eligible service.

Entitlement and usage
Service may be full time, part time/casual or a mixture of both. This will affect the rate that LSL is paid. Employees with a combination of both part and full time entitlement may elect which part of their LSL to use.

Employees may access LSL at double pay, full pay or half pay (i.e. three months full pay is equal to six months at half pay or 1.5 months at double pay).

LSL is granted in calendar days. For LSL purposes one month is considered to be a full calendar month or 30 calendar days, e.g. one month's LSL if commenced on 1 February, would end on the last day of that month; if commenced on 16 February it would end on 15 March.

Heart I have plenty of. I am rarely gloomy nor clinically depressed. I have a wonderful daughter who "keeps me up to speed" so I remain grounded constantly. A man gotta' know his limitations... and I am keenly aware of mine.

Unfortunately, and among other chronic conditions, I have lung paralysis that keeps me from almost all activity except for level-ground walking and some exercise equipment at the local "Y." Hypoxia sets in very quickly unless closely monitored. Mostly, my car has become my "power-chair." It gets me close to where I have to be and then I put in the extra effort to function as normal as possible.

Yes, my world is much smaller now but I navigate within it with few complaints. I am aware of many of the "freebies" at my disposal and take advantage of them. I manage well and I'm happy to settle for my small victories and accomplishments. There is some restlessness but I am at peace. Best of all, I am a survivor.

Good to hear; I don't typically think of people who describe their lives as a prison sentence as terribly contented, but human psychology is complex - that much I do 'get'.
