Since you mentioned the press conference right in the midst of discussions related to Israel and Palestine, I presumed you were referring to the press conference yesterday where Donald called on two conservative toady press outlets. If there was a press conference today I will admit I did not see it (but I sincerely doubt his performance was masterful, or even OK--he just doesn't have it in him), but I would suggest you be a bit more careful about identifying exactly what you are discussing. Saves the ad hominem attacks too. Of course you can do what you want, but it makes the discussions much easier IMHO.

Not sure what I can say in response to that; we are each entitled to our own opinion and can each make what we will of each other's opinion. Just because I disagree with you is not a personal attack nor is it any judgment on your personally. Just because I think you are wrong is in no way an assessment of your intelligence. when I think you are wrong, I will say it; when I think you said something humorous, I will point it out; when I think you are going off the deep end, I will point that out as well. That's part of the discourse here and everyone is on the dishing out and receiving end at one tome or the other.

As for taking you seriously, I have no doubt you are serious in your views. Trump, I think the guy is a complete disingenuous asshole who isn't worthy of being listened to, let alone taken seriously, but as he is president I will listen to what he says and comment as I see fit. Understanding? what is there to understand about a guy who speaks in vapid sound bites and has to try and throw in the zingers (which only make him look stupider) every chance he gets? Fake news, ad hominem attacks, dodging literally every question he is asked--what is there to understand? He has no idea on what he is doing in office, but rather than taking the counsel of those more experienced than he, he blusters ahead with a group of simpletons as his main advisors, and then whines when he gets cut down. this man has lived down to my every expectation, so no, there is no chance for understanding. And then he bitches and screams every time he is rightly criticized. FWIW, I will do whatever I can to oppose his wrongheaded policies, something essential in a democracy IMHO, and I share in Jim's hope of impeachment or removal from office sooner rather than later (and I think Pence would be a disaster as president, so you can see where my opinion of Trump lies).

As for Trump supporters, reaching an understanding requires a commitment on both sides, and so long as they just scream it is a revolution and we don't understand, not to mention so long as they continue to scream they represent a majority of Americans (and what ever the electoral vote count, the popular vote count shows how wrong it is), it will be difficult to reach an understanding. I have said many times that persons on this side of the political spectrum have a viewpoint that cannot be ignored in the longrun, but it is not the only viewpoint that must be considered.

Are you wrong? Chew on that and reach your own conclusion.
