United States TSA officials have created a new, more invasive process for physical pat-downs in airport security.
The new process will be more streamlined, in that officials have for a long time had the options of using five different types of physical pat-down in the screening lines.
Those selected to have a pat-down will go through a 'comprehensive physical screening,' which will include more rigorous searches that, according to a notice at Denver International Airport, 'will be more thorough and may involve an officer making more intimate contact than before'.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I got patted down yesterday, going through security at Midway. I had 5 "hot spots" that came through on the screening (one was my watch, two others were zippers, plus a weird patch on my right rear hip, another on my left rear ankle -- that had no relation to anything). The TSA officer showed me the results and asked me if I had any objection to being patted down, I said no, and off she went. It was over faster than the proverbial 7 seconds.

When the gendarmes get up close and personal I always lean into them and moan a little bet.
When my wife got the bonus personal exam a few years ago from a female TSA agent I said "just wait till your next pelvic exam"; the 'special' speculum, its called specasaurus, is already in the freezer".

Did you note the reason for this change? The methods used until this change did not work! The whole thing is smoke and mirrors to make the ordinary traveling public think theTSA is protecting them.
It is normal practice to have people organized to test the security system for weak spots. Such tests for the last several years have indicated that a huge majority of the test weapons and dangerous devices were not found. No indication that this new intensive pat down system will do any better, but it will carry the message that they are trying harder.

More security theatre, in other words.

The thing that delights me about the TSA is they took and existing system, airport security checks, and made it WORSE by slowing everyone down, then they offered to charge you for removing part of the obstacle by buying TSA-precheck status.
Now that's genius!

Re the graphic about TSA firearm discoveries...are the TSA getting smarter, or are the gun nuts getting dumber?
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Please note the stats and graphs above do not chart the increase in passengers during the same time. My remark above was about the number of weapons that are NOT stopped. Indeed, it is a theatrical production.

Yet another money grab by the gov.offered to charge you for removing part of the obstacle by buying TSA-precheck status.
