And the Failed Trump Presidency [super] TM [/super] suffers yet another humiliating defeat on a signature campaign issue.
Man, if Trump can't get GOP legislation through a GOP congress, he isn't "The Closer" or even "The Apprentice"; he's "The Biggest Loser."

Yep, the legend in his own mind falls short again.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a freaking genius. Hamilton anticipates and/or is relevant to so much happening today.

WASHINGTON — House Republican leaders, facing a revolt among conservatives and moderates in their ranks, pulled legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act from consideration on the House floor Friday afternoon in a humiliating defeat for President Trump on the first legislative showdown of his presidency.

Well, based on the way Ryan was talking, it doesn't look like this is something that's going to be coming up again any time soon...

Re: The GOP Health Plan -or-If You're Not Wealthy You're Scr
Now he's been bitch slapped by both the judicial branch and the legislative branch...
It really isn't all that surprising...
He's a President who came into office with no mandate to speak of; a middling electoral majority, (which he achieved by a 120,000 vote margin spread across three states) a popular vote defeat of historic dimensions for a winning candidate, (nearly 3 million votes) and with an approval rating two months into his Presidency that is substantially lower than any other President's since modern polling began...
Even a political wizard who was in that situation would have a hard time exhibiting much clout with his party on capitol hill; especially on a tough vote...
But of course The Donald is not a political wizard...
We've just seen the first example (there are sure to be more, so long as he remains as President) of how badly he is handicapped by his complete lack of political experience....
He has no history with these folks, he barely even knows most of them, (hell, he wasn't even a Republican until a few years ago) he doesn't understand their issues or what motivates them and his lack of time in the political trenches means he commands almost no personal loyalty or deference from them...
I said before that I think you could count on the fingers of one hand the number of Representatives who feel any sense of loyalty to him. Most of them didn't support him for the nomination, and don't even really like him very much, and they certainly don't trust him. This is a complete marriage of convenience, that was forced on them by the electoral process. They are not at all invested in him.
Add too this his complete lack of knowledge, understanding or experience about anything related to how the institution works or how the executive can interact effectively with it, and you've got a real recipe for a President who's going to have a very rough time getting anything major though Congress..
Which will disappoint his supporters, but of course the craziest of the crazies in the hardcore Trumpanzee ranks will never blame him...
For them, (just like Himself) all of his failures will be the fault of others, not the result of his fundamental unfitness for the job...They will hold him blameless...
Well, he really showed that when push comes to shove on The Hill, he's got no juice...if Trump can't get GOP legislation through a GOP congress

Well, I'll give him a little credit...
He didn't accept any of the blame of course, he behaved in a pretty calm and subdued adult manner in his remarks about the defeat....
This is where El Clodillo has lowered the bar to...
If The President doesn't behave like petulant two year old, it's worthy of note...
That should probably be a minimal expectation for a President; not a laudable achievement...
ETA:
And soon of course the tweets will follow...
That's where we'll undoubtedly see the temper tantrum....

These so-called Representatives will surely be feeling the wrath of Lord Dampnut. How dare they.
Oddly, I'm already getting email from regional Reps saying that had this bill come to a vote they would have all voted "NO." Nice save, albeit a tad disingenuous.
Now on to "The Wall."

Re: The GOP Health Plan -or-If You're Not Wealthy You're Scr
I'm curious. Trump, Ryan et al must have gone to the insurgents and threatened them with being bumped off in the next primary in favor of a more compliant candidate; this is after all how the GOP has been operating for 16 years. But is it still in their interests to do so? Is it different between moderates, those who have large numbers of constituents who will lose HC, and the nutball right tea partiers who don't care how many people are killed as long as taxes are reduced.
And how was this debacle influenced by Boehner's weak inability to isolate the tea party extremists which he had the chance?

Oh yes, tomorrow *IS* Saturday morning, isn't it? His favorite time for "Twitter on the Shitter"!
I'll be listening to NPR all morning with bated breath and buttered popcorn.

The Republicans had to pull out because their health care plan doesn't cover contraception *or* prenatal care.
