Party for the right to fight!!

Post by Gob »

One person has been killed and 15 others injured in a shooting at the Cameo Night Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A "dispute" between several men escalated into a gunfight in the crowded venue, Police Chief Eliot Isaac said.

A 27-year-old man died in the incident, which occurred early on Sunday.

There was no indication the shooting was terrorism-related, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said at a news conference.

He went on: "However, to the victims, what difference does it make?"

Police Chief Isaac said a "couple of hundred people" were inside the "very large establishment" when the incident occurred.

"Several local men got into some kind of dispute inside the bar and it escalated into shots being fired from several individuals," he said.

The police chief said that despite security checks, several firearms had been brought into the nightclub. Investigators are still trying to identify the shooters.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

I saw another report that said the Cincy authorities were sure this was not a terrorism incident but was being considered more a case of 'business as usual', as the Cameo Club — a 'hip-hop' club with a predominately black clientele — "had a history of gun violence", including a shooting inside the club on New Year's Eve 2015 and a shooting in the parking lot in September 2016.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Amazing what $1 worth of gasoline can do.

Eighty-seven people lost there lives.

We need waiting periods for the purchase of gasoline!

I made a prediction before I read your post that this would involve a black inner-city culture. Of course it was cheap a shot on my part because it happens all the time, it was a easy prediction with a low risk of being wrong. But, hey no problem it is a matter of cultural pride, keep on killing and enjoy the pride. Where I live everyone has guns black and white, but very few people are killed
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Louisiana leads nation in gun deaths; website correlates deaths with lax laws, high gun ownership.

Data released this week by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Louisiana leads the nation in per capita gun deaths. An analysis of the data published Wednesday, June 18, 2014, correlates the statistic with weak gun protection laws and high rates of gun ownership. (File photo)

When I said “ the place where I live” I was referring to the Louisiana delta country not the hold state of Louisiana, but the other rural areas of Louisiana have similar cultures. What distorts the numbers for Louisiana is our black inner city neighborhoods. Yes we have them too and liberal as well. If those inner city areas were to disappear I suspect Louisiana would have a crime rate low enough to challenge Great Britain.

Bollocks! This article utilizes FBI crime reporting statistics to show that in fact, smaller rural communities are among the most crime-ridden in Louisiana - New Orleans, for instance, doesn't even make the top ten. Louisiana is a cesspool of police corruption, poverty and poor education - the average inmate entering the prison system has a 5th grade equivalent education, and 50% of those released recidivate and re-enter the system. There is little incentive to rehabilitate prisoners because many rural communities are reliant on the prison industry for economic activity.

That one is a little tougher as he claims to hate communism but praises Putin who pines for the old USSR. Therefore on that topic I wouldn't use the term "bulwark" but would use something more like morass.

And then there is Camden NJ.

Would this work in Chicago? Probably not. Still too political and not really ready to actually do something that works.

I like the line about requiring them to walk a beat for 12 hours--if you need to use a bathroom, you better make friends.
Requires a major cultural change. It is not cowardice to give more space to a guy with a knife, or to keep a car between you and the bad guy. Compare it to the case of the white woman cop in Tulsa Oklahoma who is now charged with a crime for shooting a black guy who was on angel dust during a traffic stop and he not follow instructions.

Well then where are all the dead people, I can’t see them. When I hear gun fire it is target practice not a drive by shooting. It has been ten years or so since anything like has happened here. And that was a car stolen in Dallas and burned here. I can’t think of a single person that has been murdered here; can a person in inner Chicago say the same?

I'm proud to say that my daughter's SO is a CCPD officer. When we talk about his job he's passionate about what he's doing and knows he's making a difference. He enthusiastically works the 6PM to 6AM shift three or four consecutive days and then his personal time kicks in. He organizes community activities -- baseball, basketball, bike and trike "rodeos" -- and he and his fellow cops often participate in hoops with the neighbors -- children to adults. On hot, summer day, CCPD will occasionally "commandeer" ice cream trucks and pass out free treats to anyone who approaches with the hope of developing a first name relationship with them.

The cop culture is changing... one officer at a time. And in Camden they are making all the right moves.
