Give me one good reason why
Just finished up 13 Reasons Why, which is a Netflix original series. Pretty intense and well done. Might stir up some uncomfortable memories of high school, though, among other sensitive memories.

I thought it was good as well, and it did bring up a lot of interesting points. My only disappointment was the last episode, where it seemed that the multiple events suggested as leading to her suicide (not a spoiler) were narrowed down to a single one that could be addressed by the person discovering it. I understand it is likely a setup for another season, but I was a bit disappointed that all of the other contributing factors were pushed aside in favor of this one act being the primary cause. Loife rarely works that way, and I enjoyed the other episodes more when they showed the numerous events, major and minor, which played, or might have played a role in that act.
That being said, it is worth the watch. It can be a bit like a soap opera at times, but is pretty far removed from those after school specials.

I watched it and liked it and it definitely was a reminder of high school, both good & bad. Was again reminded that I'm grateful I went through childhood/young adulthood prior to cell phones & social media.
Not sure I agree with Big RR's assessment, as it seemed clear that ALL the reasons contributed to the girl's suicide, and as I understand the series was faithful to the book with just some tweaking (improvement) for the screen.
I really hope they resist the urge to bring it back, it's a complete story as it is. It would be unseemly to turn it into a teen melodrama series after the initial focus.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

If they don't bring it back for a second season, then I'll concede that the final episode might have been a bit clumsy, and I may have overreacted to what I saw as a set up for another season. We'll have to wait and see.
FWIW, I never read the book, didn't even know about it beforehand, so I don't know what its end was like; but I do think it was pretty clear through the penultimate episode, that the viewpoint was that suicide is done for many complex reasons that often cannot be fully comprehended, and sometimes the smallest slight or action may take on epic proportions. But I saw that last episode of taking one of the causes and raising it to the forefront (while not denying that the other things contributed as well), perhaps so a second season could deal with those didn't treat her properly trying to at least get "justice" for her--something I don't think the prior episodes even hinted at. And I agree about how sad it would be to degenerate from this initial season into a run of the mill teen soap opera/melodrama. But TV has a tendency t turn steak into hamburger whenever they can.
