If you're nauseated you're about to throw up, if you're nauseous, you're a toxic funk and you're going to make someone else puke. These words are used interchangeably so often that it makes word nerds feel nauseated
I don't think Comey meant 'nauseous' in that sense. He may have been closer to the truth than he knew.
However most comments in the NYT (1361 and counting) are along the lines - 'You feel mildly nauseous???? The rest of us feel like total shit because of what you did.' (I am paraphrasing.)
