Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I still remember where I was when I heard Alf Wight had passed away; his books were a lovely escape in my childhood and I read them so many times I felt I knew him personally.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I also enjoyed his writings and I wished I might have had the opportunity to meet him, but it was not to be.

Then I met Katie Barefoot (from the old 'Car Talk' bulletin board; I believe I've mentioned her here before) who introduced me to the writings of Sir Terry Pratchett (author of the Discworld novels), and when she invited me to join her at Minicon 40 — the Twin Cities' Science-Fiction and Fantasy Society annual convention — to meet him in person I literally jumped at the chance.

I owe her big-time for that, and I just hope that some day I will get the opportunity to repay her......

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.
