There's at least one who was .....

Now a preacher he went out a-walkin', it was on one Sunday morn
(Course it was agin' his religion but he took his gun along).
He shot himself some mighty fine quail and one little measly hare.
And on his way returnin' home he met a great big grizzly bear.

Well the bear sat down in the middle of the road just as mean as he could be.
And the preacher commenced a-shakin', And he climbed up a 'simmon tree.
And the bear stood up and rolled his eyes and he shook his ugly head.
The preacher looked up to the skies, and these are the words he said:

"Oh Lord, you delivered Daniel from the lions' den.
Delivered Jonah from the belly of the whale — and then;
The Hebrew children from the fiery furnace, so the Good Book do declare;
Well, Lord, Lord, if you can't help me — for goodness sake don't you help that bear."

Now, the bear commenced to climb the tree and that made the preacher sore;
Preacher climbed still higher, 'til he couldn't climb no more.
Just about then the limb gave 'way and they both come a-tumblin' down;
And when that preacher begin to pray, you could hear him for miles all around.

"Oh Lord, you delivered Daniel from the lions' den.
Delivered Jonah from the belly of the whale — and then;
The Hebrew children from the fiery furnace, so the Good Book do declare;
Well, Lord, Lord, if you can't help me — for goodness sake don't you help that bear."

Now they fought all the way down to the river and it was a terrible fight.
That bear was really layin' it on, but the preacher — well, he was doin' all right — (yay!)
He dragged that beast right down in the water — it was ... hmmm ... three times in and out.
Then the bear got loose and he limped away; and the preacher he began to shout .....

"Oh Lord, you delivered Daniel from the lions' den.
Delivered Jonah from the belly of the whale — and then;
Now Lord, it may not seem like much, from where you sit up there;
But the hardest job I ever done was baptizin' that bear."

The regulator may not be available without the motor.

Got the part, replaced the old one. No way to fix it as the plastic bracket that held the window and rode along the metal piece that holds every thing together had also broke. The cable had pulled out of the anchor piece and hadbecomeso twisted paritally around the spool that it wasnot worht even trying to fix.

Took the motor off the old assembly as that still worked and saved it. Threw the rest away.
All good now.

what the heck is "cultural appropriation"?

In my mind, the animated movie "The Lion King" is the prime example of cultural appropriation. Another might be the several very American forms of competitive Yoga. Yet another, St. James Infirmary played by a German three piece brass band plus accordion, featuring a tuba solo, in a Heidelberg bar, which I witnessed in 1961.

Well with my wife picinkg up her new car today I hope that means all current disasters being dealt with no more will be coming for the foreseeable future.

When I got up this morning, I discovered that we were completely out of sugar...

(We're usually pretty good at not running out of basic stuff like that, but we did)

So I sweetened my coffee with a little maple syrup...

It was the first time in my life I'd ever put maple syrup in my coffee, but I found it actually tastes pretty good...

I've just recently discovered the many blissful uses for maple syrup beyond pancakes and French toast myself; maple syrup is a stock sweetener in vegan diets because most sugar is refined using animal bone char, plus maple sugar has phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals not present in refined sugar.

So, if you liked it, consider keeping up the habit and ditching refined sugar. Maple syrup is better for you and for the New England and Canadian economies, too! (Buy New England!)

eta: The above assumes you were using REAL maple syrup, and not any of the imitation corn syrup crap.

I have essentially given up refined sugar (I'll eat chocolate on occasion or splurge on a good dessert) but I've limited my sweeteners to maple and honey. I didn't care for honey in my coffee, but I use maple syrup (just a scant teaspoon) every day. It smoothes out the edges and with a little half and half or coconut milk is absolutely delicious.

I see more and more places in VT selling "maple lattes" on a regular basis now.

A local company also produces and sells Maple Water (aka maple sap). Started up the road a bit by triathlete friends of a friend. It's sap, with all the micronutrients you get from the tree. It's not bad. Barely sweet. Quite good for you but expensive.

Yuk! I bought a five pound bag of Domino sugar over ten years ago and I bet there is more than a pound still in the sugar canister.
