Cudos for that, oldr. I, too, have sometimes had similar feelings when some loudmouth or other so-called celebrity goes off the deep edge, but we all should try to recall that these are real human beings suffering real problems.

Schadenfreude is one of my character defects and I am working on it (with the help of a higher power and other people, thanks again guin ).
I have found no matter how much I ask for it to be removed, it is not. What I do get is lessons to learn. Much like this one.

I didn't chortle; I merely addressed his legal culpability. I think his downfall is terribly sad, I really admired his drive and work ethic and it was disheartening to learn of his issues beginning when he lost Elin and his kids - not because I was being judgmental, but because it's nice to believe that every now and then some fresh faced kid gets to make and enjoy a happily ever after.

Life can be cruel; whatever the truth of Tiger's relationship with his dad, he's definitely not able to keep it together so well without his guiding hand.

Tiger's going into painkiller rehab in order to maintain shared custody of his kids. Good for him.

He's booked the whole men's unit for himself. I'm not sure how well rehab works without the group therapy aspect, but I wish him well.

That group would probably be fawning all over him looking for some kind of linkage. His zen-like individualism will probably serve him well under the circumstances. Some people find themselves better from within than from without.

That said, a "painkiller free" Tiger may not have the old mojo to get back to where he used to be, but he may be good enough for future Senior PGA Championships where he can rebuild an acceptable golfing reputation. I wish him well.

If his last back surgery was as successful as he says it was, why is he still taking opiates? When I had a double laminectomy back in '85 they sent me home with codeine (which I never took) and that was it. It worked too, I have been mostly pain-free since then.

I could convict him on the dashcam video and his statements to LEOs with just basic foundational testimony from the state crime lab technician. This case is pretty slam dunk DUI.

Long discourses about the science of inebriation by crime lab experts are only necessary when the driver doesn't look impaired on the video and there isn't any driving behavior either.

The courts are an assembly line run by ignorant prosecutors like you.

I'm sure you can get a conviction based on bullshit, juries are very complaint.

"Long discourses about the science of inebriation" are exactly relevant when other mechanisms of impairment might be involved even when the individual looks impaired. Have you ever seen a diabetic with a low blood sugar level? or a high blood sugar level? Have you ever seen an elderly driver who was confused?

You operate at a low level even for a prosecutor. And in the forensics community prosecutors are known for stupidity. I had a prosecutor ask me to draw a picture of a drug sample I had tested months before! !!

This latest post only reveals his total ignorance about standards of evidence and requirements to prosecute a DUI - he seems to believe that the State is required to disprove any other reason for impaired driving despite having toxicology positive for narcotics. He's merely exhibiting his total ignorance, as is par for the course.

I wouldn’t be very compliant; I wouldn’t vote to convict anyone without hard evidence. And no one would change my mind; I would not care if deliberations lasted until hell froze over. I wouldn’t care what he looked, sounded or smelled like. Justice is a very serious thing. Today he is in the dock tomorrow it could be you or me or anyone else.
