Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

Re: The Left said there were no POW left in Vietnam
You didn't read the entire article, did you? It clearly says this is bogus and that this was some elderly Vietnamese who was trying to impersonate an American MIA. But some guy's got a half-baked theory that this is really some American who was presumed KIA, so liberty's off to the races.liberty wrote:The commies said there were no POW left in Vietnam:

Just for the record, a search of the database of the names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial does not turn up any entry for 'John Hartley Robertson' ......Sgt. Robertson's name is etched along with 60,000 others onto Washington D.C.'s poignant Vietnam memorial, but now the documentary questions whether he is actually alive and well. (from the 'Daily Mail' article)

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
The Left says everything
That may be true, however, there is this 'John Hartley Robertson' listed in the registry:Bicycle Bill wrote:... Just for the record, a search of the database of the names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial does not turn up any entry for 'John Hartley Robertson' ...

What prompted you to post a 4 year old article?
Anyway, he's not who the documentary claimed him to be, as proven by DNA:

Also, it's not being a POW when you choose to stay in country and reject your family and home. I believe that's called desertion?

Well I could see where a POW suffering from sort of Stockholm syndrome might "choose" to do that, but unless he were prevented from leaving, it would not amount to being kept prisoner.
I always thought that the story was that the former POWs were being kept as slaves like in the Missing in Action films, but haven't seen that yet.

From Fold3. Also, if you search John Robertson on the Wall site BB used, you don't get John H (at least is seems to show only 5 names or perhaps I couldn't access pages 2-5). But if you search "John Robertson", he and a whole lot of other Robertsons show up.
Yeah, lib. Good question. Why did you dig up a 4 year old story that has already been shown false by the family's own private DNA test? I guess you just did not notice the date - very sloppy
I ain't no commie but I've maintained for years that there are as many POWs left in Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia as there are members of Washington's army languishing in British prison hulks. It will be good to reach the year 2050 and the entire nonsense will finally have to die; presumably people who love being members of something will have passed away, just as their pow/mia relatives already have.

And in one of the Rambo films.I always thought that the story was that the former POWs were being kept as slaves like in the Missing in Action films, but haven't seen that yet.
Re: The Left said there were no POW left in Vietnam
Yep, forgot that one.
Re: The Left said there were no POW left in Vietnam
I didn’t post the story; I posted the title. There probably are no POW left in Vietnam because once Bill Clinton made them worthless the commies kill them. Why would the commies kill them, because that is what commies do.MajGenl.Meade wrote:

Sorry lib - that's just an untruth. You posted the entire story (as a link).liberty wrote:I didn’t post the story; I posted the title. You still have not answered the question: why did you bring this ancient history up?
What evidence do you have that "the commies" killed any U.S. POWs since 1973, much less since 1994 when Clinton responded to the McCain/Kerry resolution passed by Congress by removing the bi-lateral embargo?
The New Yorker, Oct 21 1996. So you see, without Republicans, Clinton would have had no fig-leaf.Five Presidents failed to dispel the questions surrounding the missing Americans, in part because at least three of those Presidents exploited the issue shamelessly....... McCain's sponsorship persuaded twenty Republicans to vote for the measure, which passed by a vote of sixty-two to thirty-eight
There are probably no POWs in Vietnam because Vietnam turned over all the live ones. In 1973.

I was planning use Vietnam to demonstrate how it would be useless to resist the Russians in a future war in the artic, but after posting it I lost interest in the scheme.MajGenl.Meade wrote:Sorry lib - that's just an untruth.
